Looks like an upgrade of a WL-500W.
    - same old case
    + lots of RAM
    + fast cpu
    + GigaBit LAN

    Questions, if anyone can answer:
    1) Does this router support 5GHz N wireless?
    2) Can it transmitt on two wireless channels concurrently ie like WRT610N?
    3) Does it have a JTAG port? Omission would be disappointing!!!
    4) Are the aerials detachable?

    1. Yes.
    2. Yes.

Simultaneous dual-band operation provides data rates of up to 300 Mbps in both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands
Worldwide DFS certification to provide 27 channels in the 5 GHz band

    3. Yes.
    4. Yes.

    OH YES!
me like this thing a lot!

I mean... finally PROPER draft N wireless and a heatsink on the CPU so it doesn't need to be underclocked
the additional ram is great as well...
I bet they made it especially for us

I think however that they only used a faster cpu to support better dataflow from the wlan card, since the 300mhz cpu in the wl-500w is a bottleneck now and then.

I might be buying this thing, even without oleg support (so far).

Thanks asus for listening to the real fans for a time

It's currently selling in China for Y1700, which is <USD280, although I suppose the markup will be higher outside the PRC.

By the time I retire my WL-500W the price will be much lower I hope.

The biggest advantage is the inclusion of a JTAG port.
Gigbit LAN and 5GHz WLAN is also bout time.

280$... that is like 100 euro right

ah well.. after the first 2 months the price usually also makes a hughe drop
for now I guess the price will be around the 200 euro, the same price the wl-500w kicked off... and now it's like 90 euro or something

    Hello....first post

Canґt access ionline.pt and correiomanha.pt from netcabo Lisbon with this router (rt n16) with Teddy bearґs Tomato.

Yesterday all was fine with asus wl500gp with tomato victek.

Replaced now with WL500gp, everythings fine again.

    Any idea

    P:S (Tomato w/ default config)

Have you tried opening those pages on RT-N16 with other FW? ASUS Original for example....

Will try it later. Really did not tested original ASUS firmware that came with the router nor the newest (if there is one) because what i really want is a firmware like Tomato 1.27 or tomato victek (donґt like dd-wrt).

I have one WL500gp with tomato victek, one wrt54gl also with tomato victek and everything was doing fine.

I went to buy a rt-n16 as soon as i knew that there was tomato firmware support for it.

Loaded dd-wrt and next tomato, doing exactly like it was told in the forum.

No complains, except that part of being impossible to get ionline.pt and correiomanha.pt

who.is reported those sites being active!!!

those two sites ip are in the 62.xx.xx.xx area strangely!

i could ping other ip but those not.

    Very strange indeed

That could be the problem, maybe for some reason those IPs are being blocked by the router.

Pinging www.correiodamanha.pt [62.28.82.5] with 32 bytes of data:
