    RT-N66U Kernel version is 2.6.23, EXT4 not official supported yet, it may work... ("EXT4 was released as a functionally complete and stable filesystem in Linux 2.6.28") according to:

    http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtop...r=asc&start=15

    http://svn.dd-wrt.com/changeset/17355

    The "256MB" from RT-N66U are really weird but soon we will see, i guess that's not the final product yet with 1GB annouced.

    well... I'm not certain.
    Perhaps asus realized that 1GB is a bit of an overkill for a router with just 600MHz cpu... Yet 128 is just plain old RT-N16 style and they notched it up to 256MB.
    imho 256MB is still quite a lot for a router. I'm running so much on my rt-n16 yet I only manage to fill up 128MB of ram with a little on the swap.

    Yeah 256MB it's quite alot like you said but i think we all prefeer 1GB.

    Concerning the 600Mhz of the router, i just hope we can have a good improvement on the USB ports (transfer rate) over RT-N16, cause it's the same MIPS74K arquitecture, and i really don't know if 120MHZ are gonna make so much difference.

    The router has 1GB RAM DDR2 according to ASUS, that's why im in doubt :-D

    True, I'd say you should expect a nice 9-10MB/s transfer speed with samba3
    that's my guesstimate

    Again a new look?

    looks like 200-ish MB RAM is printed on the specs card.

    also some older news I've read: http://translate.google.nl/translate...t-streamengine

    I'm sort of... confused
    they say the rt-n66u is not going to be released in europe because it won't stand out among the competition...
    instead they will be building the rt-n57u for european markets with usb 3.0
    why usb3.0? current routers hardly reach 10MB/s on some protocols

    If you zoom in more, you can see that it can't be 200ish mb as there are only 3 characters. I don't think they would write down 200...200 what? First is a 2, then comes a G...then B/b. I believe this is actually 2GB of DDR2 ram.

    wait a second... omega, in the Russian thread, you posted this: http://wl500g.info/showpost.php?p=237534&postcount=38
    do you mean there is a stylish "black diamond" and a ROG gamers version of the rt-n66u?

    So...
    Maybe the black diamond version has only 256MB ram, and the hardcore ROG version 1GB?
    or is google translate confusing me?

    Or maybe they're going release 2 products:

    RT-N66U => 256MB
    RT-N66U Dark Knight => 1GB

    Who knows?
    what he said
