GUI is "improved" for newbies only It VERY slowly, most parameters can't be changed rapidly.

Previously I can tune paramers on N-page, press "Apply", tune paramers on N+1-page, press "Apply", ...., press "Finish" & reboot. In new GUI, a little amount of parameters can be changed on-the-fly, but most of them requires reboot like in old GUI, BUT there is no button "Apply", only "Finish". So, router reboots after every tuned page (GUI didn't show this, only big delay meter)!

Actually, several params doesn't require reboot (firewal related), but they are too few

Is the reboot time about 20sec ie as the WL500W?

It will be 'painful' to reboot after (nearly) every page.

that's why we'll put oleg on it?

the QoS needs to be looked at tho I think, my experiences are slightly better with the original asus QoS than with wondershaper (since the cpu is too slow to actually optimize for my internet speed).

again, nobody mentioned dual-band in this review
does that mean it's a different chipset as told in: http://wl500g.info/showpost.php?p=145210&postcount=1 ?
or did asus just left out the dual band option

do you think there needs to be a new ipkg repository, because of the newer kernel?

most optware packages should work fine with 2.6 kernel, for others we have http://wl500g.googlecode.com/svn/ipkg/ already

Well, we inform you when alfa will be ready. But this will take one-two months at least.

For some packages, seems to be, yes. Many syscalls was changed since optware's toolchain was built against 2.4.20. Moreover, we cannot support much packages in repository ourselves, so volunteers are welcome.

yeah well, the router isn't available here yet
do you test the firmware on something like qemu or something? or is it just trust that everything will go allright

I'll be able to compile some software now and then, as long as it compiles without too much trouble, kinda have lots of work the coming weeks from uni
I just need a cross compiler, I'm not sure which uclibc to use then, but I guess you'll be able to tell me
