DVB-T firmware for WL-500gP v1

Is there any development for Kernel 2.6?
(Someone told me that this kernel was necessary for DVB-T).
I would like to use my wl500gp to stream Video from a DVB-T Stick to my device (DSM-520. It seems that there will be an upgrade soon!)

The solution is VLC

with
vlc mmsh://212.12.127.212:8080 --sout file/:/tmp/harddisk/media/tmp.avi

I'm saving a live TV stream to a file.

With mediatomb I'm serving this file to the DSM-520

Known problems

1) The stream stops after a while with
nothing to play

2) There is no sound (alternatively there is sound but no picture).

3) I don't know how to stream from a DVB-T stick (instead of an internet location).

Does anyone have a solution?

Now the problem with the live streaming from internet is solved (with VLC).
VLC can also treat dvb.
Is there any user that was able to open the stream of any DVB-stick?
So we can send this stream directly to VLC (WITHOUT v4l).
This is very easy if the stream is open.
And we will have a DVB recorder and player!!!

I think my wl500gx could be a PVR attaching a DVB-T USB device with buint-in ENcoder for MPEG2 like the Hauppauge WinTv Nova-T USB2.

It seems the dibusb and linuxtv modules are necessary. Has anybody tried this with success (with this usb device or another). I'm using Oleg's firmware.

I'm also interested in this idea - currently tossing up between getting a NSLU2 and trying to get a USB DVB-T device that I know works with linux (like the Leadtek Winfast DTV gold (http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum...fm/997883.html)) and a rt-11n or rt-15n or other 802.11n router to provide 802.11n or getting the wl-500n and hoping I can get it to work with that.

Currently leaning towards the former, partly because the NSLU2 will run a full version of debian and people have gotten analog TV tuners to work with it (kinda, that guys implementation still looked pretty hacky, but then again I don't know how well that tuner he had works with linux period) and maybe digital TV tuners too (while that guy seemed to be doing pretty well, he never wrote back to let the thread know if it all worked or not...maybe he was too busy watching TV i guess ) and partly because I don't like the way asus doesn't post much in the way of tech specs on those two asus routers (rt-11n/15n), or make their pdf manuals available so I can read through and try to work out the difference between the two, OR reply to emails asking them for more details.

The only reason I'm still considering an asus router at all if I go the NSLU2 route is that they provide the only 802.11n device listed to work under linux on http://linux-wless.passys.nl/query_alles.php , and I hear that I have a much better chance of > 802.11g speeds if I don't mix vendors with my 802.11n equipment.</rant>

Anyhow yeah it would be cool to know if our idea would work, especially since it would work out cheaper for me than the NSLU2 route and would save me having an extra box cluttering up the place

I've read that support for usb dvb-t tuners comes with 2.6 kernel.

Another option is to get a driver for 2.4 kernel from v4l website.

Did anyone try adding support for dvb to 2.4 kernel?

Hi Everybody.

I came across the idea of centralizing my TV-card through my Asus Router by connecting a DVB-C USB stick.

MumuDBC or similar streaming software on Linux, seems to be able to do this, even on older OpenWRT baed Router-hardware.

Will 2 X USB tuners work

Do you any experience with similar DVB-IP setup?

By centralizing my TV-card setup, availability across client will be 24/7.

Furthermore I can minimize the TV Clients to Low-power Atom/AMD Fusion based hardware like the Zotac AD02 or AD03.
