    meaning it's running at 238mhz?

I mean my cpu at the wl-500w is running at 299mhz and says 299bogomips.

maybe because of the different kernels

and yes the download master still uses rtorrent to download torrents, still rather slow than normal... BUT faster than the wl-500 series.

disk speeds I tested so far with a 6GB SD card (with 20/15 mb/s speeds)
all under windows 7 64bit final version, ftp and samba didn't differ in speed... ftp was usually worse than samba.

    more pics and stuff: http://wpte.kicks-ass.net/news.php?readmore=13

QoS should be turned off because it just kills your speed on anything...
to make it "off" just don't use it, completely empty all settings... kinda fail from asus

    BCM4718 or BCM4716

One key question is that whether this router uses BCM4718 or BCM4716. With BCM4718, it is possible to have third party firmware (really hoping oleg can create one for us) to support dual band wireless N. On the other hand, with BCM4716, it only supports 2.4Ghz band.

/proc/cpuinfo indicates the chip is BCM4716, and the name of this router, RT-N16 seems to point to BCM4716 being used. However, there are photos with BCM4718. Furthermore, according to a Chinese web site, http://neture.homeip.net/digiland/vi...php?id=882&p=1, the CPU is actually BCM4718, but Broadcom tag the BCM ID to 4716. Also, the page pointed out that BCM4716 does not support USB ports.

So unless Asus put in a VIA USB chip (or a USB management chip of some sort), BCM4718 seems to be a more logical choice (well, everyone prefers BCM4718). Furthermore, BCM4718 and BCM4716 have different pin count (so you cannot just replace BCM4718 with BCM4716 without some re-arrangement of the board).

The only real way to tell is to open the router... Not sure anyone would be willing to do that though.

I really hope BCM4718's ID is incorrectly tagged so /proc/cpuinfo reports BCM4716. However, even if Asus did put in BCM4718, we still need a guru like oleg to enable dual band wireless N.
