    Question Terratec TerraCAM USB Pro

    Tested@
    Model: WL-500g deluxe
Firmware: tried both 1.9.2.7-7f Oleg and ASUS Stock 1.9.6.0

    Device NOT WORKING
    Brandname: Terratec
    Brandtype: Terratec TerraCAM USB Pro
    Controller: OV518+
    Sensor: OV7620
    USB Interface: USB 1.1 compliant

01:00:33 kernel: hub.c: new USB device 01:02.1-1, assigned address 3
01:00:33 kernel: ov51x.c: USB OV518+ video device found
    01:00:33 kernel: ov51x.c: Device revision 0
    01:00:33 kernel: ov51x.c: Compression required with OV518...enabling
    01:00:34 kernel: ov51x.c: Sensor is an OV7620
01:00:35 kernel: ov51x.c: Device at usb-01:02.1-1 registered to minor 0
    01:00:35 USB webcam: attached
    01:00:37 kernel: ov511_decomp.c: v1.6 : OV511 Decompression Module

I've just purchased it, so I think it should be a new revision.

    I don't understand why it chooses OV511 decompression despite it's an OV518+?
Why doesn't is use the OV518 decompression (included in Oleg's firmware)?

Image is totally unrecognizable "undecoded noise" . I assume it's caused by choosing wrong decompression routine.

    Any idea?

I suppose your webcam will never work with ASUS router. In fact, there are two very different cams, named Logitech QC Orbit/Sphere and looking very similar (only internal plate differ). Old one, worked over Philips proprietary protocol and supported by pwc[x].o driver, and new one, working over open UVC protocol. UVC support in Linux is a new thing and seems it will not work for old 2.4 kernels. Look here for more details:
    http://linux-uvc.berlios.de/

When writing about Philips and Logitech webcams, please, give their P/N and/or USB VID/PID.

It is really hard to find recent cam, that is supported by this old 2.4 kernel. If anybody knows - write here, please.
