WL500GP as an access point

Hi guys...

I have these 3 routers..

Asus WL500GP
Buffalo WBMR 300N
Linksys WRT54GX

I need to put one as a router and another one as a wireless access point. Can someone please help me out to achieve this task since I need to connect my kids PC wirelessly to the router.

Hi,

in the standard administration website of the asus (http://192.168.1.1) you can choose out of 3 kinds of configuration: Home Router, ........ (don't remember) and Access Point Only.

Choose Access Point Only mode, and it does what you want to do.

Do you want to connect the asus wirelessly to the buffalo router?

I think you will have to setup a (wireless) bridge then.
(but I do not have experience with this setup. but it's possible, I've read posts on this forum achieving this.)

Otherwise, just connect a LAN cable between the buffalo and one of the 5 ports on the asus (in AP only mode, you have 5 lan ports, the wan port is then bridged with the other 4 lan ports)

could you give me a hint how you did it??
im trying to set up my asus to ap ans i use linksys wrt 54 gl as router at this moment .
i tryed with the acces point set up in asus router without succes .
would be very greatful if you could give me a link to the settings you found on this site , i ve been looking around without finding anything and maybe i may be blind ????

problem solved.
found out how to do it and working great with linksys wrt 54 gl with tomato 1.19 and asus wl 500gp as acces point with original firmware.
