yes, you can use a proxy server.
You can look at the wiki pages here on this site, or you can make your own firmware. What you also can do is make een list from bad websites and use the build in option from the internet explorer or use a software firewall with childprotect build in.
Youc ould also install de ddwrt firmware.

I can't seem to get the dyndns client to work....
I want it to upgrade 1 of my 2 dyndns's at www.dyndns.org
Entered all the details, tried my username and email-address, but no go. Not even an entry in the log, also nothing after pushing the 'update'-button....
I use a wl500g-dlx with the latest firmware (1.9.2.7-7f). Any ideas?
Same go's here on my parent's WL500.. At my home it works ok... On both unit's update succeeds, the only difference is that on my parents one when you try to connect from wan side using the dyndns name the connection fails, however when connecting using the IP it works.
Everything works fine on my unit, the only difference is that i reseted to factory defaults after upgrade, to bad i have no time at the moment to do it on my parent's wl500....![]()
The Struggle Continues...
Asus WL500g #1 with fw 1.9.2.7-7f running as main home gateway, with Philipps PWC730k
Asus WL500g #2 with fw 1.9.2.7-7f running as Wireless Client, running palantir 2.6 with SPCA5xx camera on 128MB generic USB key
I have a similar problem, with some minor tweaks:
My current connection speed is of 8000Kbits and when connected directly trough the modem I get full speed. Trough the router, wich has been flashed with the current firmware v1.9.2.7CR7e, I get around 2000Kbits at LAN and 4000Kbits at WLAN![]()
I also disabled everything I could in the router (firewall, NAT, USB apps) and it didn't help also.
My ISP connection doesn't use PPoE, its has Automatic IP distribution.
I also reflashed my router with the latest firmware and factory settings, but unlike hvonjomega, that didn't help either.![]()
Any ideas???? I really like this router, and it would be a shame to buy another one because of some configuration problem :P
at this moment i use the kopelcz firmware the 1.62, the internet connection is much faster than the oleg 1.9.2.7.7f /(don't use the koppelcz 1.63 because the wanport connection doesn't work), the firmware is also in english. here is the link: http://koppel.cz/cdmawifi/download/. also i hope that oleg will also build in the features like them, it is very great. Now i tested the 1.64 firmware from koppelcz and it works great.

Hi Oleg,
please tell me the default user and password for the firmware: "WLHDD-1.9.2.7-7f.trx". The original user & password from the ASUS-Firmware (admin:admin) dosn't work, and my customized settings before I flash your firmware now also dosn't work. I tested it with http, ftp, telnet. Please help.
Thanx, Mentox2.
Unless you did a 'reset factory settings', login/password shoudlnt have changed. Maybe an incorrect flash, i do not doubt you've done the right things, but i've found this router is very sensitive while flashing. I experienced two incorrect flashing resulting in unstable behaviour.
I suggest you to do a reset factory settings (push back button until it reboots once or more times - for me, i need sometimes to let it reboot 3-4 times to get back factory settings), then reflash it.
Generally, it's a good idea to reset to factory settings before AND after a flash procedure.
Another thing : i've noticed some limitations in allowed characters in the field "IP Config > Wan & Lan > PPPoE, PPTP or l2TP Account > User Name", '@' character is forbidden. Well, my isp username contains a '@' so.... Not a big deal, because with a copy/paste from notepad it works, or during quick setup there is no character filtering. Don't know if it can be changed, i just wanted to let you know this (Oleg and others).
By the way, thanks to you, Oleg, and to all contributors to this project
Ps: I'm using v1.9.2.7-7f
The koppel 1.64 firmware is not released yet, and its only for the wl500g and no other.
here is the link http://koppel.cz/cdmawifi/download/1...f-USB-1.64.trx
I'm having some trouble with the 7x-branch of the firmware.
I used the 6b-firmware for a long time without any problems. After upgrading to 1.9.2.7-7f, the (external) DHCP (getting an IP from my provider) is very, very slow. It takes over 2 minutes to get an address. The last part of the log looks like this:
The problem kept re-occurring, even after several resets to default and so on.Jan 1 01:00:11 kernel: lp driver: get device ID
Jan 1 01:00:11 kernel: neg fail
Jan 1 01:00:11 kernel: neg fail
[... internal clients getting their IP-addresses here, without DNS-info ...]
Jan 1 01:02:23 udhcpc[64]: Lease of x.x.x.x obtained, lease time 522816
Jan 1 01:02:24 dhcp client: bound IP : x.x.x.x from y.y.y.y
Jan 26 20:55:55 ntp client: Synchronizing time with 194.109.22.18 ...
After downgrading to 1.9.2.7-6b, the DHCP was fast again.
1.9.2.7-7c gave me the very same problem. What happend to the DHCP between 6b and 7c and how to solve this?
Also, is it normal that DHCP reports 1 'normal' DNS (the first one I typed in), and 2nd DNS as '192.168.0.1' although I manually set 2 DNS in the configuration?
