Nobody can check this simple command for me please?![]()
ping my.router
(/etc/hosts file should exist and contain something like this:
192.168.1.1 my.router )
Folks, I have a stupid question... Does name resolving work on your WL-500b/g?
I have a problem with PING on my patched WL-500b:
#ping my.router
ping: my.router: Resolver Error 0 (no error)
It is strange to me because it happens even if I have my.router IP address specified in hosts file.
I tried to use nslookup as well:
#nslookup 192.168.1.1
*** Unknown host
Name: my.router
Address: 192.168.1.1
If I delete hosts file, the nslookup response is following:
*** Unknown host
*** Unknown host
I played with .conf files (resolv.conf, host.conf) a bit but no luck...
Could anybody comment / explain why I can ping only numeric IP addresses?![]()
Thanks in advance.![]()

Does not work here either
ping: my.router: Resolver Error 0 (no error)
Thanks, Phantome! I suppose you are using customized firmware as well. If there's anybody with original firmware who could test the ping as well and post a result here, please do it...I don't want to downgrade my WL-500b just for that test...
NP... i search for the error and here is the result
