Is the maxtor USB disk reachable by every PC in your network?
How do you share it? Using samba or so or an other protocol?
Just curious.

yes every pc can access the HD and Samba is helping with that, i just assigned drive letter U: to the shareOriginally Posted by chagemans

So I have swaped the 128MB MemoryStick with a IBM 40GB 7200RPM HDD
Isn't there anyone else who want to post there network setup? See Topicstart
I guess, there are very few ppl here who have a more complex network then Antiloop. So they might feel it's not interesting for others to see their network layout.
As an example:
My network consists of the WL500g connected to a Zyxel 650R-31 ADSL modem. A HP Deskjet 720C printer and a 160 Gb HDD are connected to the WL500g with FTP, giFT and Samba daemons running. Also there is a laptop (Acer Travelmate 800LCi (Centrino)) and a Pentium III (tualatin) machine running an America's Army Ops server connected to the switch of the WL500g. I don't use the wireless functionality because the Centrino concept has difficulty with seeing the WL500g.

O.T.: Do you have any auto-sensing problems between your Zyxel and the WL-500g? I have a Zyxel Prestige 650R-13 connected to a normal analog telephone line and have to imput commands to change the speed of the WAN port in the Asus for it doesn't have linking problems with the ADSL modem.Originally Posted by Styno
I have the same model and never had any problems between the modem and router. Just Plug 'n PlayOriginally Posted by Thorz

Nice. I have always wondered why the Prestige 650R-13 is marked as ADSL over ISDN on the bottom of the modem, and it works on the normal POST analog networkOriginally Posted by Styno
Mine is configured in bridge mode (came like this from ISP). I have never touched the modem for reconfiguring anything. I know this model can work as a router, but have no idea how to connect a serial cable to it for checking the actual config. The back port is quite strange, it is rounded a.la keyboard PS2 or S-video cables. I have written an email to the ISP to see if I am allowed to change the configuration of the modem, but I doubt it.
I've configured my modem as bridge too (before I had the WL500g it acted as a router). The serial cable to configure the modem was included when the modem was delivered and a linesplitter as well. I guess you should have got it too. My ISP (Demon) allows me to change the router config. They even have manuals for that online.Originally Posted by Thorz
In the Netherlands: the 650R-31 is for analogue phone lines, and the 650R-33 is for ISDN (www.zyxel.nl).
On www.zyxel.com these models can't be found. A -11 and 13 model are mentioned there. Perhaps they are the same as the 31 and 33 models in the Netherlands, but who knows.

ISP says that it is my responsibility if I like to change the firmware. There came no special cable with the modem, only the usual splitter. I guess that I am going to have to live with it. I can send an email to Zyxel and ask about the cable and the correct firmware to this modem. I don't want to flash it until I am sure that it has not been modified or customized specially for my ISP. The "ISDN" label in the bottom is the thing that really scares me, because I am on analog, then I guess that it has been modified in some way for working with the POST network, and maybe I can render it unusable if I flash it with the original ISDN firmware for this model.Originally Posted by Styno
Thanks a lot for the answers.
