external.php will always be active, external2 / fps_external can change or get removed/replaced in the future

also http://rss.chupa.nl/last10.php can be used, this is just html output with the last 10 posts (used at the frontpage of chupa.nl)

    WL500gp v2 questions

I currently have an old linksys running DD-WRT that is coming to the end of its life. Was thinking of buying a WL500gp v2 to use the torrent download and HDD sharing but I have a few questions.

I use RSS feeds with the favorites setting in Utorrent to capture downloads. Can any firmware use RSS and presets to download specific torrents and seed automaticly ie during the night etc?

Is firmware easy or hard to install?

Does FW have a gui or is it all linux code?

What is the speed like when DLing torrents?

Does it share media with PS3?

    Please help thankyou

Hi biohazarduk, i also have a wl500gp v2. First of all try to buy a v1, as it's better than the v2. :-D

I've installed oleg's firmware, and if you installed a DD-WRT, you shouldn't have any problem. There is a WebUI for configuring most of the options. But if you want to install for example a torrent client, you will have to use the linux CLI. It's a linux box, and you can install a lot of programs, but for that, and in order to configure that extra programs or tuning up the system, you are going to mess with the command line. The WebUI is only for firmware options.

About the RSS, yes it is possible. if you use transmission or rtorrent, you can set up a folder for transmission to watch for new torrents. And you need a script or program to download the .torrent files to that directory. I use transmission and the DL speed varies. Right now i have 2 torrents, one is downloading at 60 KB and the other one at 30 KB. Downloading the last ubuntu CD image, i got a maximum speed of 250 KB.

There are some upnp media servers available, i don't have a PS3, but i've managed to share media with a xbox with XBMP and with a xbox 360 (although the 360 only works with twonky media server).

    Hi!

I'm going to buy a Asus WL-500GP router and have noticed that it's two versions v1 and v2. You say that v1 is better than v2, why?
What is the main difference between those versions?

    Thanks

Asus has designed v2 only to reduce the production costs.
V2 has no miniPCI slot, only one RAM chip and is poor shielded.

Do you think that this will work with the Wengi setup?
