    Thanks.

Anyone has an opinion about it yet?

Changelog is included and mentions noly minor fixes. Nothing about WAN/LAN speed etc.

[edited after using it one day]

In a bold move, I directly installed this firmware.

Forced to use 1.9.7.0 because 1.9.7.2 gave me grief with streaming to my XBOX, I was never really satisfied with the original Asus firmware. I've considered going to alternatives (Oleg's), but never made the step because I didn't want to lose functionality.

Things seem to run smooth with 1.9.7.5, so these are some of my first impressions:

The upgrade from 1.9.7.0 to 1.9.7.5 messed up the first time, I had to use the firmware restoration function in the Asus tools to upload the 1.9.7.5 firmware. This could be an incident, but my advice is to download and install the latest Asus tools before upgrading!

One of the changes from 1.9.7.0 is the bandwidth management function. Bandwidth management is simular to 1.9.7.2 in look and feel. Not sure if that's a good thing. It got profiles for gaming, server, internet applications and VOIP. I hardly use this function, but it might be a knock-out criterium for others.

The biggest improvement seems to be made to the bittorrent client! It finally seems like I'm able to download torrents over 2 gig! Downloading a 4 gig torrent and got the first gig in.. Speed seems to be much higher than previous versions. I will download some more stuff and comment later.

They also seem to have fixed the downstream bug in 1.9.7.2 which made accessing files on a USB HDD really slow. Better yet, it seems my performance has improved some compared to 1.9.7.0 (3 point something MB a second in 1.9.7.0 to 4 point something MB a second in 1.9.7.5!).

The only downside untill now is the new bandwidth management, which I never use. The rest of the functionality seems to be boosted a bit. It's still too early to say, but the first impressions are good.

    VoIP stopped working

My Lingo/Primus ATA stopped working once I upgraded to 1.9.7.5. Neither it works in DMZ now nor with port forwarding. It authenticates OK with provider, downlink is OK but all the voice traffic from me to the other party is totally garbled. Re-flashing back to 1.9.7.2 solves the issue. Traffic shaping with easy settings ( priority to VoIP and streaming ) or by assigning priority to UDP 5060, 1020 etc does not make any difference.

Upgrading from 1.9.7.0 to 1.9.7.2 needed a firware restore action, as well as the 1.9.7.2 to 1.9.7.5 upgrade.

It could be a coincidence afcourse... :-)

Will be trying Tomatoe firmware shortly, so I hope this goed well :-)

    Good news.

My NDAS connected device does 10 MB a sec. Even with the older firmware. Haven't tried USB though.

I tried to download a ISO-file (2,8Gb) using the DownloadMaster:
It gives an error. with firmware 1.9.7.2 the download started and stopped at 2Gb !!!

I wonder what the problem is.

I removed file from the map incomplete. When use DownloadMaster to get a file with a size of 2 Gb it will stop at 2Gb!

When I copy a file from my pc to a share on th router its no problem. The disc is ext3 !!

because of the poor wireless connection on asus original firmware, i flashed oleg firmware on this router. But still my old wl500g has an better wireless range than the wl500gp. Who also noticed this.

Does the download manager software is able to find the router if you have more than one network card? I found out this Bug on previous versions the hard way

it's no bug. one of the two cards is the master card in the pc, en that is the card you set as first. That card will be used.

Maybe you are right. However one of the cards is a DVB-S card, not real a network card (only acts as one)...

How do you set one of them as the first?
