    problem with fw upgr

    hi
as I remember i had a similar problem before
i upload the new trx via the rooter's webpage, and it starts working.
in the ps processes there's a writing with big cpu usage maybe for a minute.
after the writing process finishes, init starts to work with maximum cpu usage and won't stop. i can't reboot, halt, anything.
after 15 minutes my patience flows away and i plug it out and in, and after this 'reboot' it shows firmware release is changed and everything goes fine.
why won't it reboot by itself?

    additional comment:
actually not everything was fine, as I had to reload the flashs I saved previously on my HD. After that samba and every other things run.

    hi,
hopefully everything will stay as it was, but i strongly recommend doing setting and flashfs backups before every fw upgrade! (see my case)
i guess you know how to do that.
after loading back flashfs from the saved file, everything was just fine for me!

I intalled Oleg's firmware in the same way I upgraded my Asus with original firmware.
Access your router by a web browser (http://192.168.1.1 is the default address) then insert username/password (admin:admin by default).
Click on the left menu on System Setup and then Firmware Upgrade.
On the bottom box of this page, click on browse and point to the file you downloaded from Oleg's site http://oleg.wl500g.info/1.9.2.7-7g/W...1.9.2.7-7g.zip (YOU HAVE TO UNZIP IT FIRST !).

Click on Upload and... cross your finger...

Tutorial for optional modules can be found here: http://www.wl500g.info/showthread.php?t=5909

    Good luck.

    Thank you for your answer.

I have some more questions about this Oleg's firmware :

    1. Will I lose some features if I go to Oleg's firmware? If yes, what?
    2. Is it easy to switch back to ASUS 1.9.7.0 firmware from Oleg's?
    3. Does Oleg's firmware includes torrent client? Does it include all packages needed for normal work (all features presented in original firmware) or do I have to install them manually?
    4. Does it have web interface, or it's command line only? If it has web interface can u manage everything within it?
    5. Is there any chance to damage the router by using Oleg's firmware?

The features I need the most, are : good bandwidth management, download client (torrents and http), port forwarding and maybe wireless. Can I get this if I switch to Oleg's firmware, and will these services be more stable than using asus official firmware.

    TNX!!!

I'm satisfied with my swap to Oleg's, now I even can download torrents. Which I can't with the original firmware. Even faster than on my regular computer Once SCTCS gets some much needed improvements, I'll be even happier

    Add WOL functionality?

Could it be possible to add a WOL (Wake up On Lan) functionality in future versions?

    Unhappy I can't download
