Thread: W-Lan mit Asus WL500b V2?!?

  1. #1

    Question W-Lan with Asus WL500b V2?!?

    Hello everyone,

I've used the Firmware from Asus in version 1.8.1.9 on my WL500b router.
Now I upgrade to 1.9.2.7-7f for Asus WL-500b in version 2, because of crash every few days.
The new version of firmware is very great. A lot of new powerful feautures.
    Thank a lot!
But there a some problems with wlan. I found on the config-page of the router the product id. It seems that I have version 2 of the Asus WL500b router.
    Thats means I have a Ralink Wireless PCI Adapter RT2400 / RT2460 wlan-module.
    Here some logs:

It seems that no module for wlan is loaded. A modprobe wl do not work.
    What can I do?

    Thanks

Lightbulb what the different between v1 and v2

    hello,

now I've open the router. The product Id tell me I have the version 2. But I have a broadcom 4301 wlan module installed. That look like version 1.

What is now the real different between version 1 and 2????
Download the firmware in version 1 don't work because of the product id.

    best reguards

    I have got it!

    Hello,

ok now I have update the router successfully.

If the broadcom WLAN module is build in, you have realy version 1.
And if the product ID show you, you haver version2 you can't flash it by the html page.
Then you have to use the firmware restorator. It's a little bit difficult to get a connection, but it works!

good luck for every one, how want to do the same.
I think a update is a very good thing. You have a lot of new features.
    It' s realy good work!!!

    Thanks
    Manuel

    I got the same situation

My WL-500b claim itself v2 but I cat /proc/pci|grep PCI, got:
    PCI devices found:
    Class 0500: PCI device 14e4:0803 (rev 0).
    Class 0200: PCI device 14e4:4711 (rev 0).
    Class 0200: PCI device 14e4:4713 (rev 0).
    Class 0703: PCI device 14e4:4712 (rev 0).
    Class 0c03: PCI device 14e4:4715 (rev 0).
    Class 0604: PCI device 14e4:0804 (rev 0).
    Class 0b30: PCI device 14e4:0805 (rev 0).
    Class 0501: PCI device 14e4:0811 (rev 0).
    Class 0200: PCI device 14e4:4713 (rev 0).
    Class 0600: PCI device 14e4:4710 (rev 1).
    Class 0280: PCI device 14e4:4301 (rev 2).
thus no ralink wifi exists. all in all are broadcom

I think if I got a broadcom wl kernel module then insmod it, doesn't it work?
but...where can i get this module?

I want to suggest oleg or some experts that if they put the broadcom
kernel module together with ralink into wl-500bv2.trx if the module
    is small.
