Advanced ping or another way to list available computers

    Hello!

I am trying to get a list of computers, that are currently online. I can ping every computer and list the details, but the problem is a delay that is introduced by the offline computers. Normal linux ping has a -W flag where you can specify time to wait for ping an then exit, but the busybox ping does not have that option. Is there a more advanced ping, or can you suggest me another method of listing the computers?

    Thanx!

nmap at http://insecure.org/nmap available as Optware packages. But you also use cat /proc/net/arp for arp cache.
