    problem with spanning protocol

I have problem with my router. Don´t know if it is problem connected with installing of this new firmware.
Asus500g send again and again this kind of frame

    -start-
    Timestamp: 13:30:41:781
    MAC source address: 00:0E:A6:7F:06:78
    MAC dest address: 01:80:C2:00:00:00
    Frame type: 802.3
    Protocol: Spanning tree
Source IP address: No IP address
Dest IP address: No IP address
    Source port: ---
    Destination port: ---
    SEQ: ---
    ACK: ---
    Packet size: 60

    Packet data:
    0000: 01 80 C2 00 00 00 00 0E A6 7F 06 78 00 26 42 42 ...........x.&BB
    0010: 03 00 00 00 00 00 80 00 00 0E A6 7F 06 78 00 00 .............x..
    0020: 00 00 80 00 00 0E A6 7F 06 78 80 01 00 00 14 00 .........x......
    0030: 02 00 00 00 A5 A5 A5 A5 A5 A5 A5 A5 ............
    -end-

As a Iris capture software recognized - this should be something connected with spanning tree protocol (probably from the dest MAC addres http://www.iana.org/assignments/ethernet-numbers) - but this is strange. My WAN connection is to our local LAN with static IP (it always shows to me that it is disconnected - but works OK). There is no other switch connected to my LAN ports. Wireless is set as a APonly. So there is no need of spanning at all.
Consequently my router probably spread this frame throughout LAN connected via my WAN port and this doesn´t like my ISP..

So does anybody know how to fix this problem? Or what did I wrong?

Source MAC adress of my machine is 00:0E:A6:7F:06:78
    Connection is static IP
I upgraded from 1.8.1.3. (but don´t know if this problem was at this firmware)

    Thanx for help.

  7. I'm at the office so I can't restart it but I don't understand what's going on with it because now the time on the pict of the webcam is right, so I think it's working again.
Anyway, here is the last result:

Stability Issue with V1.8.1.9 - Anyone?

Generally I think V1.8.1.9 is much more stable than previous versions, still I get the WAN-die issue after heavy transfer (e.g. 700K-800K BYTE/sec for 30 min or longer). eMuling is ok for days however. Direct link from PC to ADSL modem always work fine for hours (in fact it was never down during days of testing).

All extra functionalities, except WLAN (with WEP 64 bit) and internet firewall, are disabled. No USB device was attached. Default values were restored.

I tried all the tricks I can find in the forum (not including the 10M switch however, cannot seem to find one) but none helps. Any idea?

That's a damn fast ADSL connection you have there.
    Where do you live?

Taiwan (no not Thailand.... that's a 8M/640K ADSL connection with floating IP. 8M is priced at about USD$35 including line lease and ADSL modem rent, very close to 2M and 2M is priced very close to 1M, so many are upgrading to 8M (and the problems comes with it, 2M gave me no problem what-so-ever).

Yet many are still complaining because people in Japan/Korea/Hong Kong is getting faster service for less I think ISP in Japan is rolling out 100M FTTH (fiber) now at about USD$70.

Wondering what's next - GB Ethernet to homes?

  11. I was wondering if Alexis and I were the only ones with the webcam freeze under this firmware version ?

Bad connection with 11 Mbit device

Hi, i just installed the 1.8.1.9 FW and have problems with connections from a Sweex Realtek RTL8180 based wireless 11 mbit PCI card (driver 1.70). It continuously connects and disconnects. With FW before 1.8.1.7 it was stable.
It does not matter whatever authentication/encryption i use.
Of course i want WPA-PSK, but then i even get no IP-address.

    Anyone got a solution?

I also have problems with ibook G4 and airport extreme: With 1.7.x it was stable, now i often get errors when trying to connect and the signal is not very stable.

Should i go back to one of the 1.7 firmware's?
    Which one?

The reason i like the 1.8.1.x firmware is the concurrent use of different authentication/encryption methods.
For example you can have WPA-PSK/AES combination together with WEP-128 bit. Very usefull if you have older cards or USB devices and want to use them together with modern cards.

The 1.8.1.9 FW is having the connect/disconnect of 11 mbit cards problem more than the 1.8.1.7.
