You are completely right! Without A8 there is no way of addressing the extra 16Mb.
I can see all copper paths for the memory rows are available on the main-board so I wonder if they are enabled and if the BCM4702 is able to address them (A0-A8) to get the 32Mb.
I think of it is a matter of trying but I would like to have some more info.
For the Gx the schematic is in the CE&FCC reports. I don't know if those reports are available for the 500g.
On the Gx the extra line has to be connected by two jumpers(one to each chip).
