Configuring over ethernet in Gateway mode

Hi, Im trying to setup my AP to act as a DHCP server over the wireless side, and use the ethernet side to configure, and maybe a bridge, and no DHCP.
After I set it up in gateway mode, I loose the ability to configure over Eth, but am able to over wireless.
The manual suggests I enable the 'web access from WAN' under IP Config, Misc, to config over eth, but this dosn't seem to work.
Any suggestions?, Have I missed somthing?

Which firmware do you have? Cause in 1.8.1.3 i can turn it on and i can even set the web acces port to 8080 or what ever it type.
