    [USB] Modems

After compiling and uploading drivers, I have working internet connection through GPRS using Siemens M50 mobile phone and USB "charging" data cable. The cable is based on Prolific PL2303 chip and for data works OK (it doesn't really charge, though).

I have also uploaded chat command to the router to drive AT commands to the phone. Routing works OK out of the box.

    Tested: WORKING
    Model:WL-500g
    Firmware: 1.7.5.9-CR2, enhanced

    Brandname:GTran
    Type: GPC6420Z.CR
    Network: EVDO - CDMA450
    USB Interface: USB 1.1

After compiling and adding proper kernel module (acm.o) and adding /sbin/chat program, I was able to connect my WL-500g to Czech CDMA450 mobile network, enjoying much faster internet than through GPRS ;-)

    Tested: WORKING

    Model:WL-500g
    Firmware: WL500g-aon-ns-2.1, a 1.92.7 CDMA enhancement

    Brandname:GTran
Network: EVDO - CDMA450 Zapp Mobile
    USB Interface: USB 1.1

I've settled for now with the CDMA optimized firmware, a port of the stock one. As soon as I get the time I'll install openwrt and check more goodies.

It was also reported that USB DSL modems such as Thomson/Alcatel Speedtouch 330 were working. I happen to have one and some other -noname- that I'll try myself. My money goes on "it will work".

    Tested: WORKING

    Model:WL-500gx
    Firmware: OpenWrt RC3

    Brandname:Nokia 6680
Network: WCDMA - SGP-M1-3GSM (MobileOne Singapore)
    USB Interface: USB 2.0

I have a Nokia 6680 hooked up with the standard Nokia PopPort USB cable. I use the mobile phone to send SMS notifications, for which I've put together some simple shell scripts that send the relevant AT commands to the 6680. If anyone wants 'em, give me a shout.
