Cool WL-500gP and Asus support experience

I had an Asus WL-500gP for three days...During that, I had the following correspondence with Asus support (comments are welcome )
    READ UPWARDS!

    Part1

    Dear Bibi,

Thank you for your answer. I have just tried my sisters flashdrive with
Wl500gp and notebook (quite fresh WinXP) with 'Download Master', and the
same 'Device not found' appeared. Sorry, but I don't intend to buy a fourth
flashdrive, just because the WL500gp is too choosy. The current ones are
just fine, they worked without problems as mass storage devices in every PC
I encountered. I really wouldn't suspect my system, it runs for two years
without any glitches, and the symptoms I have do not justify OS related
issues. (viruses or network communication problems...) No way will I
reinstall my whole system because of Download Master.

You misunderstood my problem about setting to easyly blank passwords. Please
    reread my letter.

And yes, the copy speed is 15Mbit/s, which is very slow for a network
attached storage. My current consumer internet connection is 2Mbit/s.

Sorry, but I'm disappointed and tired of playing with it. I guess I give up.

    Best regards,

so in short, your usb won't mount right?

go to the hidden admin page please, and enter
    Code:
    ls /dev/discs
press the refresh button, do not use the enter key

Well, I can't do that, because I don't have it any more. But I did not know of any "hidden admin page". I don't think that it was a mounting problem, because I could access the drive (or router) with everything, but Download Master. And there were other problems as well.

    Hi AntiLoop,
I just got the wl-500GP aswell and is experiencing what Blezi was going through previosuly, stumbled upon this thread but unfornately it was not complete. I'm using an external HDD with the router and it only have a 10GB fat32 partition on it.

Using the ls /dec/disc cmd, I got a status reply of disc0
Yet I got Device not found error when I tried connecting via download master to the router.

The router is running FW 1.9.6.9

here's something i saw in the status log..
Jan 1 08:00:19 USB storage: vfat fs mounted to /tmp/harddisk/part0
Jan 1 08:00:30 USB storage: 32760k swap file is added
Jan 1 08:00:30 FTP server: daemon is started
Jan 1 08:00:32 Samba server: daemon is started
Jan 1 08:00:34 Media Server: daemon is started
Jan 1 08:00:34 Download Master: daemon is started

    Help!

well, any help will be deeply appreciated.
    Thanks
    Regards

I no longer use the ASUS fw, but I remember that DM was unable to connect to the router when my VPN application was active. Also, I had to change my firewall to include the ip range of the router (the 192.168.1 range was being blocked by the firewall).

Hi guys, in case anyone of you experienced this headache like I did
Hmm.. I think basically I didn't give the router enough time for it to start up properly.

One key thing to notice is that under system logs.. be sure to see download mater daemon started.. before you try to connect in download master. once that is in.. at least in my case. download master connects.

Now the weird thing is download master only shows my torrents as queued. But my HDD light is blinking like crazy. Will leave it to run over night and see if the file is downloaded. lol
    Cheers
