Thread: Connection drops

    Question Connection drops

    Hi,
I have an Internet cable modem connection and a WL500gP (1.9.6.9 firmware) that "shares" the connection to a desktop (wired) and a notebook (wireless). Both Windows XP.
The problem is with the wireless connection - everything works ok, except this: every now and then, the browser (IE) stops working. The wireless connection still works, but the browser does not transfer any data. If I exit and re-enter the browser, everything is fine. This does NOT happen if I use a wired connection.
    Is this a browser or a WP500gP problem ?

Have you tried another browser? Like opera, firefox... ?
And: when IE stopped, did you try and ping your router or an outside url like e.g. google.com?

    Another browser - not yet.
I used an IP monitor tool, that pings multiple hosts simultaneously, and I found that every now and then some hosts were unavailable. The outage lasts only a few seconds. I think there is a problem with my ISP.

That should mean the browser has a problem. I still don't know if wireless is involved or not.
