I have a very similar setup using WDS. Works without a glitch, no WPA though. I use it to hook up a KiSS DVD-player with ethernet port to my wireless network.
Hi folks,
Can anyone of you tell me how to configure my WL-HDD and router in the following configuration:
CableModem
|
WL500g ------ PC
|
+-----WL-HDD ---- Noxon (wireless music player)
I would like the WL-HDD to use the internet-connection on the router so it can pass internet-radio to the Noxon. Futhermore, how do I configure this setup so I can reach the WL-HDD with my PC?
PS. All connections are wireless, except between cablemodem and router.
Thanks in advance,
Jeroen

Zpottr,
So, do I configure the WL-HDD as WDS?
Any other settings I need to take care of?
Thanks!
Looking at your sketch again I do wonder why you need the WL-HDD in between - is the distance too big from WL-500g to your Noxon? I hope you are not planning on running any application on the WL-HDD to channel internet radio to you Noxon, unless you have that software available.
Anyway, my settings in brief:
-Interface
* Channel: [Fixed (your choice, same as 500g)]
-Bridge
* Channel: [Fixed (your choice, same as 500g)]
* AP Mode: Hybrid
* Connect to APs in Remote Bridge List? Yes
* Add MAC address of 500g to list
- Client Mode
* Become an AP if no AP can be connected? Yes
* Client Mode: Disabled
* Prefered AP [Your SSID]
- IP Config
* Get IP Automatically? No
* Add network settings
-DHCP Server
* Enable the DHCP Server Automatically? No
That should be the most important. you should match the 500g settings to these, ofcourse!
Zpottr,
I'm running Twonkyvision on the WL-HDD. I have my audio collection on the WL-HDD, but I'd also like to receive internet-radio on the Noxon and don't want to keep my PC running all the time. The Noxon can play internet-radio, but needs an internet-connection of course....
Many thanks for your reply, I'll have a look at the settings you posted when I get home.
Jeroen
Hi all,
well, it took some time and trail-and-error, but I finaly have a configuration that works.
I hooked up the WL-HDD to my router with a network cable and gave them both the same SSID and now my Noxon can receive both internet radio (from the router) and the Twonkyvision audio (from the WL-HDD).
Now if I can only get my PCI network card to behave.......It's not funny having to restore my network every minute during heavy traffic....
Cheers,
Jeroen
