Bidir communications is NOT SUPPORTED by these protocols. Connect directly to your PC if you need this.

    Humm thats bad...
I thought that raw communications could be bi-directional, wasnt that the reason to leave the lpr protocol?
I should read old posts for sure

    Thanks Oleg, Thanks Antiloop!

Ps: I have used the search Antiloop, but couldn find a answer, sorry.

    **Late Edit**
I'm clarified now! For those who want to know why, check out Oleg's place, at http://wl500g.dyndns.org

Actually that's not true. The JetDirect protocol can be bidirectional. It can also include a few more ports.
The p910nd daemon used in the firmware is unidirectional, tho, so I've asked the author if there's
a chance he could make it bidirectional.
He sent me a pre-test of 0.7 with bidirectional support but haven't had the occasion to try it yet
to see if it enables ink-level reporting again.

we know there are a few ways of doing this..

also snmp could be used for this, and yes jetdirect does support bidirectional(otherwise my laserjet2200dn couldn't notify me of things)

please send me and oleg the pre-test of p910nd

    my IP3000 (printer) doesn't work

    Hi !
I try to connect my new printer : canon IP3000 to my router asus.
    But it doesn't work.
First I install the printer normally (usb) in my computer
then with the "printer setup wizard", I convert the port printer in tcp/ip.
In the status "192.168..1.1", the printer is "online" put nothing is printing...

Your printer does not appear in Asus's printer compatibility list http://usa.asus.com/products/communi...er-support.htm

but have you tried this? http://wl500g.info/showthread.php?t=981

    What firmware are you using?
    What OS are you using?
    Any firewalls running?
Sure it's configured exactly as in the instruction? If you for example you mistype the name "LPRServer" it will not work.
Did you install the printer exactly according the instructions?? If not please first remove printer and printer port, then start from scratch following the instructions step by step.

    Good luck

please always notice your firmware version of the WL500g

please try a custom firmware with RAW printing
find latest one from oleg here: https://wl500g.info/showthread.php?t=1169

see http://wl500g.dyndns.org for instructions how to setup RAW port (use port 9100 as you have an USB device)

I also have the Canon PIXMA iP3000 connected through USB, running W2000 and it works perfectly now.
At a first attempt with the latest ASUS firmware it did not work, but after uninstalling the printer, re-installing the latest printer driver and choosing the created IP port it worked.

I had the same experience on both PC's on my network.

Afterwards I installed the customized firmware 1.8.1.7-2a I also got RAW printing to work. Of course ink status does not work.

Ok, actually the firmware is the basic 1.8.1.7 and my OS is WinXP Home
As ustinov say, I have to update with the firmware 1.8.1.7-2a (or 1.8.1.7-3 cause it's available) and it will works ?
But... ustinov, you succeeded printing with the ASUS firmware... how ?

Ink level doesn't work but the other function (like cleaning)
