Perhaps you need to clone a MAC address of your old router.
Hi,
I recently moved and went from a DSL setup to a Cable Modem setup. I had been successfully using the WL-500G with the DSL setup. Anyway, with the new cable setup it requires me to acquire an ip address and I have not been able to get the wl-500g to connect to the cable service. I had an older belkin router that allowed me to reset the IP address and it will work with the cable service. Is there a reset ip address in the wl-500g that I am missing? I have tried it several times but no luck in connecting.
thanks for any info

Thanks I will try that today. The belkin router did not connect to the cable service at first either but there is an option to reset the ip address of the router and it always connects when I do that. It also is using it's own mac address instead of the original computer mac that connected initially. It is still worth a try. The modem is an Arris Telephony modem and the technician said most of the netgear routers would no work with it either.
