    Hi guys!

Please help. If I follow this tutorial and run

    [admin@WL-001E8CE634DF sbin]$ echo ./usr/local/sbin/usb_printerid /dev/usb/lp0 | grep -q FWVER || cat /usr/local/sbin/sihp1005.dl > /dev/usb/lp0. >> hotplug.sh
-sh: cannot create /dev/usb/lp0.: Permission denied

    What could this be?????

    Thanks

Thank youuuuuu! A simple solution for my "big" problem...

It works now, but in windows 7 ( I haven't tried in xp/vista) the printer looses bidirectional support. Therefore I have to activate it before every print. Does it happen to somebody else? Is there a simple solution, as well?

    Thanks.

P.S. Thanks Oleg for the great firmware!

Can these scripts be loaded to WL-520gu? Can't find WL-500gP anywhere and I have HP P1006...

    Thanks

yes, but you will need external storage for the firmware. There isn't enough space inside.

  8. #68
Hmm, well I have successfully uploaded files to router (WL-520ug) (flashed with oleg's of course) but now I have another problem...
It seems that hotplug still doesnot work, every time I turn-off and turn-on the printer, I have to type cat "/usr/local/sbin/sihpP1006.dl" > /dev/usb/lp0
I cannot access /proc/sys/kernel/hotplug to add the nesecary line... I've added pre-boot, post-boot and done the chmod +x and all the flashfs and reboot command...

    Please help...

I want to connect my HP LJ 1020 on my Asus WL-500g Premium. I use the following walktrough: http://www.bogdangheorghe.ro/2008/12...0100510181020/
    But I get an error:

    Here is my telnet session:

    I did command ./usb_printerid /dev/usb/lp0 | grep -q FWVER || ca

your problem is that printer isn't recognized by router. I guess you have wl500gPv2. Try the firmware from http://code.google.com/p/wl500g/ It is known to be more compatible with usb devices.

I have ASUS WL-500g Premium (firmware: Oleg firmware WL500gp-1.9.2.7-9 )
I will test the new firmware tonight. I'll keep you updated

I have flashed my router to firmware: WL500gp-1.9.2.7-d-r740
    systemlog of the router:

    Code:

Jan 1 00:01:23 kernel: usb.c: invalid descriptor length of 1

    Jan 1 00:01:24 kernel: hub.c: new USB device 01:03.2-2, assigned address 3
Jan 1 00:01:24 kernel: usb.c: not enough configurations
    Jan 1 00:01:24 kernel: usb.c: unable to get device 3 configuration (error=-22)
I have taken the same steps of the walktrough and I get the same error.

I have typed ps commando and get the following:

ps output is ok, while syslog looks not very promising.

Well, first check once again that the printer itself and usb cable are in order by connecting the printer directly to PC. If it works, I really don't know what else you can do.

The printer is reported to work with Premium v.1, so I believe you should have some hardware problem.

You connect printer directly (not through usb hub)?
What if it is connected to another usb port?
    Are another usb devices recognized?

I can use the printer directly connected to my pc perfectly. I get no errors in Windows XP home and Linux Ubuntu 9.10. The printer works very well.
The printer is not connected with an usb hub.

I have tested 3 diverend USB cables: and with every cable I used the two usb ports of the router for the turn.
