    Unhappy WL 500g deluxe dead?

    HI!

I tried to flash my WL500g with tftp, but I think I did not wait long enough before I powercycled it.
When I put the power plug in, all leds light up for a moment, then all leds except power go off. The power led stays on for ca. 3, then starts to blink in 1s intervals.
The router does not respond to pings, pushing the reset button has no effect.
    Did I brick my router?

    Any ideas are welcome!

    Greets,

    Daniel

It's in the firmware restoration mode and should answer pings. You've to check your network config.

Thanks for your answer! You were right.
I did not connect directly to it, but through a hub, i think that was the problem.

I was already looking for a cheap place to buy a new one

Unhappy My (distant) router is almost dead!

    Hi!

I have two WL500gx. The one in the summer house 500 km away is almost dead. I can still make an SSH shell to it and SCP to or from it, but no webserver reacts any more.
The big problem is that it will not reboot when the command is entered. Neither does the kill or killall commands work any more, most other seem to work.
Any ideas how to make it reboot whithout travelling 500 km?

    at first try to do:
    ps -ef | grep httpd
    kill -9 <httpd-pid>
    then again
    ps -ef | grep httpd
    a) are both httpd still alive now ??
    b) take a look at your /tmp/syslog.log ...

    WL-500GD sudden dead

    Hello,

My router suddenly off the "AIR LED" after power off then power on, no more wireless function. I can connect to internet but like direct connect to the modem. When I check my IP using IPCONFIG, now display my real IP. I can't login to 192.168.1.1 to do anything.

Can anyone help me to solve the problem or need to repair? Thanks.

You've to disable all network adapters (inlcuding bluetooth) in the network connections and leave only one (ethernet) enabled.

    Unhappy WL-500g Deluxe DEAD

    hi everyone,

I received my Asus WL-500G Deluxe today and I flashed DD-WRT v.23, build date 27/10/05, ASUS binary. Everything went OK, after first reboot the firmware loaded up no problem.

But after powering off the AP only the 4LAN a 1 WAN LED are on, the POWER and AIR leds are off and I can't ping the AP -- hell, I can't even establish a connection to the AP (Windows reports the lan cable is disconnected..). Resetting the AP has no effect, nor does holding the reset button and pluggin in the power cable.

Has anyone encountered this problem? Is it because of the FW?

    Please help

Ask for support where you found your firmware.

Hmm yes, we don't have much experience with DD firmwares here so the first thing would be to seek help there. But we do have some tips for borked WL-500g's: http://wl500g.info/showthread.php?t=1329
