You have Asus, why buy WRTOriginally Posted by Thorz
Emule works here since ever, so its definitive a user Problem .
But don´t use Beta if you dont need a special feature or bugfix!
Stock Asus and Custom Firmware works just fine.

It is weird. I have forwarded the ports selected on eMule's prefferences also from the beginning without success.
You want to know the must confussing thing? I have just received a Linksys WTR54GS router and just changed the 2 and the Linksys has no trouble with eMule. I have rechecked several times and there is no explanation. It is maybe the Asus beta firmware that I am using that is causing the problems.

Why WRT: Simply because I was needing another router for another propouse and decided to try the Linksys, it has worked amazingly well and I have not yet upgraded its FW, it has the stock FW and it is has worked stable like a rock. Sveasoft FW offers quite a lot of future possibilities in your hands.Originally Posted by WlanMan
User problem: There is always the possibility but I doubt it. It is maybe a firmware issue. The sad thing is that the only FW that has resisted my heavy BT+Emule+FTP activity without WAN port dying was this beta (the one recommended here against WAN port dying issue, don't remember the #). The conf. is the same that i have always had, nothing fancy, just DHCP and the usual port forwarding. UPnP is OFF.
As you can see I am using BETA as a bugfix.
At the end of the day it doesn't matter anymore. The Asus is serving the other network here now and my machine is now connected to the Linksys WRT56GS. The Asus has served me well for 6 months but after trying the Linksys one week I came to the conclussion that it is more stable. It is possible that the reason for this is that the Linksys has a juicier processor and more memory. Anyway, I am very happy with it and I can always upgrade to Sveasoft FW that offers a huge ammount of possibilities (it is like having a US$1000 device for the price of a US$100 one.
which ports must be opened in the wan to lan filter to enable
eMule ?
I added the ports as described here for the virtual server
but this only works if wan to lan filtering is disabled.
Does anybody no more about this ?
Hi,
I did configure the Virtual Server as explained in the begining of this post.
Emule stoped complaining about my TCP port, but I still get a low id.
In the emule status, I see:
eD2K Network
Status: Connected
IP:Port: Unknown
ID: 3125493
Low ID
It seams it can't determine my IP.
Is this what's causing the low id? If so, how do I fix it?
Thanks in advance for all your help. You guys are great.
Cheers,
Vítor
