ASUS ROUTERS CFE DUMPS COLLECTION
================================
I'm creating this thread just because it would be interesting testing old vs recent CFE versions on devices
in order to see the real differences, it's well know that some CFE versions don't allow some settings.
Ex: New CFE's don't allow setting RT-AC68U at 800MHZ DDR3 speed and older versions allow it,
wireless channels region unlocking, etc.
NOTE: Different CFE and HW Revision version can have impact on OC capability.
Check your CFE version at:
http://192.168.1.1/Tools_Sysinfo.asp
Or via Telnet/SSH:
PHP Code:
nvram get bl_version

If anyone has a different CFE version/region from the ones posted here
please dump it and upload it, same about HW revision, please share it.
You can follow CFE dumping procedures on this threads:

RT-AC68U/R (ARM) - DDR/CFE UPDATE TOOL:
DDR/CFE update tool
This tool originally/unmodified will only change your DDR speed from 533 to 666mhz
and upgrade your CFE to 1.0.1.6 version, if the original is older.
It should be used with EXTREME CAUTION specially if you want to FLASH and modify/
customize CFE, the bad use of this tool with modifications can result in a BRICKED router.
NVSIMPLE (ARM):
nvsimple (ARM)
MTD-WRITE (ARM):
MTD-WRITE (ARM) V1 => *Original version (V1) from ASUS*
MTD-WRITE (ARM) V2 => *New version (V2), it fix CFE
updates on some specific situations that couldn't complete
the process and no update was done on previous version*
AIO FILE:
AIO File
CFE UPDATE COMMAND:
==================
MIPS:
PHP Code:
mtd-write -i new_cfe.bin -d pmon
mtd-write (MIPS) file it's part of the FW already.
http://forums.smallnetbuilder.com/showthread.php?t=8259
ARM:
PHP Code:
mtd-write new_cfe.bin boot
(V1)
and
(V2)
PHP Code:
mtd-write -i new_cfe.bin -d boot
mtd-write (ARM) needs to be copied to the USB drive or downloaded (wget on /tmp or USB) so you can use it.
WARNING: DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISK!
BE AWARE, IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG WITH CFE UPDATE YOU WILL BRICK YOUR ROUTER AND THE ONLY WAY
TO RECOVER IT IS VIA JTAG, IF DEVICE IS ALREADY SUPPORTED OR UNSOLDERING AND PROGRAMMING THE CHIP.
CFE / BOOTLOADER IS A CRITICAL PART OF THE SYSTEM THAT SHOULD NOT BE TOUCHED, ONLY FOR THOSE
WHO REALLY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING AND AWARE OF THE CONSEQUENCES THAT CAN RESULT FROM IT.
Thank you.
UPD: RT-AC68U @1600MHZ
