    Asus RT-AC50U/56U/67U

Asus new routers for wireless network 802.11ac up to 1.3 Gbps.

Faster wireless networks comes when Asus updates the range routers.
There are three new models of 802.11n and 802.11ac.

1: Asus RT-AC67U and delivers support for 802.11n 450 Mbps and 802.11ac for up to 1.3 Gbps.
    2: Asus RT-AC56U with 300 Mbps 802.11n and 802.11ac up to 900 Mbps.
    3: Asus RT-AC50U for 300 and 450 Mbps.

The new routers come with built-in switch for Gigabit Ethernet (4 +1 ports)
and supports the Asus cloud service, AI Cloud. Coming in July or September.

Asus RT-AC56U Router Preview CES 2013 Day 0 - ASUS Networking Products (3:30)

In terms of speed, the RT-AC56U has two bands (2.4GHz/5GHz) that concurrently top at 1167Mbit/s. While not the fastest in the ASUS networking arsenal, this is more than enough to cover you even if you’re on a rare true Gigabit connection. Inside we find a fifth generation Broadcom chipset that is at the heart of 802.11ac optimisation.

You can see quite clearly that the RT-AC56U has both USB 3.0 and USB 2.0, so connect away: printers, external storage, even 3G/4G adapters. This is more than a router, it can easily become a server to share resources, something ASUS networking products are very keen on doing.

    ASUS RT-AC56U Router Preview

This AC does more than cool you down, it speeds you up. We’ve seen many of the 802.11ac
products ASUS currently has on offer, and soon this new addition will be joining the family.

This is the RT-AC56U, a mid-upper range networking device that’s loaded with goodies to make
the most of the latest in Wi-Fi. Just to recap quickly, 802.11ac takes over from 802.11n as the
fastest and most powered Wi-Fi standard. You can check out the official protocols on the IEEE site.
And get excited about the RT-AC56U

The RT-AC56U is quite the looker, maintaining the black diamond design previous performance
routers from ASUS showcased. Of course, the antennas are internal, which means a sleeker
device, less interference and, in my case, nothing for headphone cables to get snared on,
    reducing the likelihood of mishaps.

In terms of speed, the RT-AC56U has two bands (2.4GHz/5GHz) that concurrently top at 1167Mbit/s.
While not the fastest in the ASUS networking arsenal, this is more than enough to cover you even
if you’re on a rare true Gigabit connection. Inside we find a fifth generation Broadcom chipset that
is at the heart of 802.11ac optimisation.

You can see quite clearly that the RT-AC56U has both USB 3.0 and USB 2.0, so connect away:
printers, external storage, even 3G/4G adapters. This is more than a router, it can easily become
a server to share resources, something ASUS networking products are very keen on doing.

The internal antennas are supported by ASUS AiRadar signal amplification and shaping technology,
which we’ve talked about before as well. This nifty touch has an intelligent algorithm built into the
CPU that modulates signal power based on how many devices you have paired with the RT-AC56U,
how far each one is, how much bandwidth each requires at any given time, and what letter of the
alphabet the device name starts with. Just kidding about that last one. On a serious note, ASUS
engineers tell me in real world test conditions AiRadar can extend Wi-Fi coverage 150% compared
to an exactly-specced router that doesn’t have it, though of course your results may vary.

Naturally, the ASUS AiCloud app is bundled and supported, so you can use your iOS and Android
devices to access the RT-AC56U from pretty much anywhere, share stuff from external storage
hooked to it with other people. You can also access, stream, upload, and download content, but
remember you do need external storage for this – that’s why the USB ports come in so handy.

The RT-AC56U should be launching in the very near future, with more details forthcoming.
We’ll keep you posted, so watch this space and our Twitter feed!

Release 374.34 has been uploaded to Mediafire. I initially intended to merge more up-to-date code from
Asus, but considering the amount of major changes Asus has introduced, and also the fact they are
releasing multiple updates in a short period of time, I decided to release this build for now, so to provide
a stable platform for people to use, and give me more time to work on integrating the newer code.

    Highlights:

374.34 marks the introduction of a new router to the family, with the RT-AC68U.

Note that this release isn't based on the latest Asus code. There are still some unresolved issues that
Asus has been addressing in newer firmware releases. It should however still be usable by a lot of users.
I didn't want to delay this release by a few more weeks just for the AC68U, so here it is.

CPU temperature is now reported both on Sysinfo page, as well as the Performance Tuning page
(including the graphical chart) for routers that support it (only AC56 and AC68). While on the topic
    of the Performance Tuning page...

Asus's (currently still under development) Turbo Mode for the RT-AC68U has been integrated and enabled.
(this is not the same thing as TurboQAM). The Performance Tuning page has an option which will let you modify
the LED switch at the back to start acting like a Turbo button - just like the good old days of pre-Pentium PCs

Enabling this option then pressing the LED button will overclock the router to 1 GHz. As anything that involves
overclocking: it CAN reduce your router stability. The good thing with Asus's implementation is that if it's so
unstable that you are no longer able to boot the router, you can easily revert back to normal clock just by
setting the LED button to Off at the back.

(Known issue: the CPU clock isn't accurately reported on the Sysinfo page when Turbo mode is enabled.
To confirm that it's working, compare the Bogomips value from /proc/cpuinfo.)

IPSec kernel support was added (patches provided by saintdev).
This should let you setup an IPSec tunnel through the use of Strongswan (available through Entware).

UPnP-related changes: you can now adjust the lowest port number allowed to be forwarded by miniupnpd
(useful for WHS users). Also, UPnP rules will be processed after manually configured port forwards.

Component updates: Dropbear updated to 2013.60, dnsmasq updated to 2.67
(Asus had been using 2.67-test in recent releases).

minidlna should no longer crash when processing very large libraries
    (patches provided by Paulo C.)

A bunch of other minor fixes, all documented on the Changelog.

    What next?

Merging with the next Asus GPL release mostly. Asus has been bringing a lot of
major changes (such as OpenVPN support) to the official firmware with this build.
This will require some planning to decide how best to integrate their changes.

    Code:
    nvram set wl0_country=RU
    nvram set wl1_country=RU
    nvram set wl1_country_code=RU
    nvram set regulation_domain=RU
    nvram set regulation_domain_5G=RU
    nvram commit
    reboot
Открывает каналы с 36 до 161 на 5ГГц, на 2.4 то же меняется немного настройка каналов.

    Потестировал "Двойной WAN".
Переключение на резервный канал происходит, обратно нет, даже если резервный канал падает!
