FTP on External USB HDD no WAN uploads

    Ok first my setup.

    FW: Oleg 1.9.2.7-6b
After firmware upgrade i did a restore and set everything as it spose to be again.

    External HDD Case:
Sum Vision (Aluminium Mobile Enclosure)USB chip Genesys GL811
HDD Maxtor 160GB 7200rpm (NTFS formated)
ftp_pub and ftp_pvt dirs added, files from the PC uploaded with USB in ftp_pub
I know NTFS have some issues but i can connect to it from WAN and download.

First i had same problems as most guys on the forums, I could not connect to FTP from WAN.
After changing next 4 settings i was able to connect:
    Internet Firewall - Basic Config
Enable Web Access from WAN YES
Respond LPR Request from WAN YES
Respond Ping Request from WAN YES
Do not add any port 21 on NAT Setting - Virtual Server to any ip.

I dont know why but above settings allowed me to connect and download from WAN

If i logged on to FTP i was redirected to ftp_pub root, which was fine and i could download anything from there.

So i filled in my old FTP's user and passes, everything worked fine, the users could download without any problems, till some user with READ/WRITE right tried to upload.
Uploads didnt work for this user, so i tested myself i could download from WAN and LAN side but i could not upload from both sides (even LAN)

I got next error on FlashFXP:
    [R] 227 Entering Passive Mode (**,***,***,**,*,*)
[R] Opening data connection IP: **.***.**.*** PORT: 1026
[R] STOR Wrath of the ORCS.jar
    [R] 501 Error in parameters.
    [R] Transfer Failed!
    [R] TYPE A
    [R] 200 Type set to A.
    [R] PASV
    [R] 227 Entering Passive Mode (**,***,***,**,*,*)
[R] Opening data connection IP: **.***.**.*** PORT: 1027
    [R] LIST -al
    [R] 150 OK
    [R] 226 Transfer complete.
    [R] List Complete: 259 bytes in 0,35 seconds (0,7 KB/s)
    Transfer queue completed
    1 File failed to transfer

In the router logs i couldnt see anything special about transfer fails, everything looked fine.

I tried this with original FW 1.9.2.7 and 1.9.4.0 after going back to Olegs FW i had to do a FW recover but everything is ok now and still same problems as above

The thing i wonder is, could it be that ftp_pub and ftp_pvt dirs are protected on the router? (like read only) if so can i change that from System Command?

If it is possible to do that, could some one show me the commands?

I hope i give enough information about my setup, but if i missed something plz let me know.

    Thanks in advance

Thanks Oleg, i will try to do FAT32, but XP wont let me format to FAT.

I have to find a way to do it.

Hook the disk to an IDE port and use Ranish partition manager (freeware) or Partition Magic to format the drive. Windows won't create any FAT partition larger then 32 GB even though the FAT filesystem supports much larger partitions.

I did that already with partition magic from the USB connection
Waiting to finnish the file transfers now, so i will hook it up to the FTP when its ready and since it worked with NTFS i think this one should not be a problem.

Thanks again Oleg, for the answer and the great FW

    EDIT: It is working fully
