the tests seem less comprehensive than I expected from smallnetbuilder.

I think the tested 17MB/s write is quite nice tho, especially compared to the E4200V2 (~21MB/s), which has a 1.2GHz cpu

The problem here is that they used the same "method" than ASUS, copy test from windows explorer What about yours? Im counting on you to do a REAL test :-)

haha, connect to the router via teaming ethernet for a whopping 2Gbit/s speed and use various copy tools?
I'm not sure if the rt-n16 firmware will work for the rt-n66u, but otherwise I'll test ipkg samba as well

Only testing we will know But im sure soon will be available a "complete" version of this firmware with 5GHz and Guest SSID etc etc. I was suprised with Tomato Shibby FW, it has ALOT of options (even statistics graphics), its really awesome.

Detachable antennas only work at 2.4GHZ right? The 5GHZ antenas are inside right (built in)? You cannot use other antennas with 5GHZ?!?

I doubt it wont, unless there are specific modifications done; think of the 5 Ghz radio, we never had before.

For myself I'll buy one as soon as the price has dropped to 120-130 Euro and try to help where I can.

rt-n16 firmware doesn't run so far tho... so I'm playing around a bit.
First impression: it feels like a solid router, not lightweight and strong plastic
