wlan speed drops if lan connected machine (wired) comes online

    Hi all,

I have the following (strange) problem:

My laptop is connected via an Asus WL-100g to the Asus WL-500g and I have an excellent connection (high signal strength) and full speed (54 Mbs). Using smart FTP to the FTP server I have a speed of 250 Kb/s.
When I turn on my other machine connected via lan port 1, so wired, the connection stays excellent but the speed drops to about 1-5 Mbs. In Smart FTP the speed is about 24 Kb/s. When the other machine is turned off again then the speeds comes back again to fullspeed.

The firmware used is the official one that cames with the wl-500g. 1.8.1.9
The laptop uses XP, the other machine win2000.

I have searched the internet and this forum but could not find a description of this problem.
Does anyone have a clue what is happening?

Everything works perfectly as long as not both machine are turned on.

    Hi all,

My problem with the wlan speed is solved. I changed the setting of the channels from auto to channel 11 and the connectionspeed stays ok. I saw this in another posting about a wlan card that could not connect.
