    hotspot-in-a-box

    any development to build a total hotspot solution in a wl500g/x ??

    like these one:

    wl500g/x is perfect candidate for it have usb port.
    we can attach printer and lots other stuff to build this.

    Well chillispot is available as unslung package, and I belive there has been some efforts with WifiDog. Other than that I don't know what people are up to.

    afaik,
    chillispot, wifidog, etc are not a complete solution.
    they still need an authentication (radius) server somewhere....
    also, there're no user administration,
    add/remove/change users' login/pass/time/limits/etc...

    while the product link i gave is a complete solution.
    no server needed.

    they still need an authentication (radius) server somewhere
    without full fetured RADIUS server (RADIUS + MySQL + something else) you can't build real hotspot
    i use WiFi as transport, and Internet shares for users via PPTP VPN that i terminate on my cisco router, users authentification, authorisation & accounting works on FreeRADIUS, users have theyer own web based statistic and i have my own for manage accounts etc.
