Hi
Thanks to this forum and firmware I bought my first WL500g ~2004 and it's still working perfectly (also a WL550gE present on the LAN).
Lately I have had the need for an inexpensive NAS-solution and Samba, so I tried to mount USB flash drives and HDDs.
USB flash drive (FAT formated) works perfectly and works with samba:
Code:
Jun 21 13:34:56 kernel: hub.c: new USB device 00:04.0-1, assigned address 4
Jun 21 13:34:56 kernel: scsi0 : SCSI emulation for USB Mass Storage devices
Jun 21 13:34:56 kernel: Vendor: 128MB Model: HardDrive Rev: 1.88
Jun 21 13:34:56 kernel: Type: Direct-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 02
Jun 21 13:34:56 kernel: Attached scsi removable disk sda at scsi0, channel 0, id 0, lun 0
Jun 21 13:34:56 kernel: SCSI device sda: 256000 512-byte hdwr sectors (131 MB)
Jun 21 13:34:56 kernel: sda: Write Protect is off
Jun 21 13:34:56 kernel: Partition check:
Jun 21 13:34:56 kernel: p1
Jun 21 13:35:01 USB storage: vfat fs at /dev/discs/disc0/part1 mounted to /tmp/mnt/disc0_1
However, when mounting a WD My passport or WD Elements 2TB (formated in EXT3) it does not work:
Code:
Jun 21 13:43:53 kernel: hub.c: new USB device 00:04.0-1, assigned address 7

I can locate a 20MB NTFS partition there via samba which I can't write to.
Why doesn't it work?
Does it not support EXT3?
Is there any chance that another firmware (like dd-wrt) will accept this HDD?
Firmware= 1.9.2.7-9 (=latest)
