Syslog: udhcpc[89]: bogus packet, option fields too long

    Hi all,

Great forum this is. Have only looked around for a number of weeks now but hope can contribute at some point. Still have a lot to learn though.

My syslog currently shows during boot approx 40x message:
udhcpc[89]: bogus packet, option fields too long

Has anyone an idea what may cause this?

    Thanks, Kwenie

Yes, your ISP is causing this.

    Hi Oleg,

Would this have side effects which I can or should do something with or should I just life with it?

    Thanks, Kwenie

Does it work now? If the answer is yes, then ignore these messages.
You could also ask your ISP to fix this, "as your linux box prints lot of errors". Most likely they would never fix it...

Case closed then since I'm not faced with internet connection problems.

Vaguely remember something about ISP condition for windows based equipment (no support on ...), so will not bother them with an error in the syslog of a linux-based router ...

    Thanks for your support Oleg,
    Kwenie
