Yes that can be quite logic since they upgraded so much hardware...
then it won't be that easy I guess

Actually, we don't know which kernel will be used finally. Oleg reported that he has had an engineering sample of RT-N16 and firmwares based both on 2.4 and 2.6

At least we know for sure that asus tests 2.6, however, we can only hope that it finally chooses it...

I mean it's kinda quiet here in the english forums, while he's pretty active in the russian forum I guess.

I vote for kernel 2.6 tho

What is the advantage of implementing the 2.6 kernel?

well... bug fixes, better hardware support, better software support (most software these days are written for 2.6 kernel but are backwards compatible with 2.4)

the router would actually come close to a real modern pc when it comes to functionality etc.

I mean... they make new versions of the kernel for a reason

I think this thing is going to be cheaper...
if you google online a bit you can find some prices already! (chinese ones or something).

    like this one: http://product.pchome.net/network_wi...16/143413.html
    (loads a bit slow)
scroll down and you see "¥1595" wich comes down to around 172 Euros/233 us $

that makes it a whole lot more affordable I guess

I guess that's the special "gaming" version.
since rog = republic of gamers.

maybe it has an extra overclocking feature
but I guess it's just build in with the special feature for lower latency gaming or something like that.

OMG! I think I just came a bit.........

Have been waiting for ages for a more up-to-date solution on my NAS-solution!

I'm very excited to see, what's the final Results/prices would.

If somebody have it, could you please post som Benchmark test comparing to other Asus Routers. Especially on the trasfer spees from USB- Harddisk!

Sick and tired of my 2 MB/sec!

The ASUS D200 (MEDIA CENTER/NAS/ROUTER) - ATOM CPU looks very exciting!
