    Talking Pppoe doesn't work on Oleg fw 1.9.2.7-10

    I've updated the firmware from asus 1.9.7.7 and i cannot connect to my ISP. Pppoe doesn't work.

    I've configured username, password, clicked the auto ip assign....

    I've tried to set de "idle disconnect time" to 0, but it doesn't work.
    Turned on IPv6... doesn't work.
    Turned firewall off... nothing changed.

    Does anyone knows how to solve this problem??

    I was thinking to try dd-wrt firmware, but i didn't found any information if i can put the asus firmware back again. Do u know if it's possible?

    Hi !

    I tried DD-WRT v24-SP2-mega on my 500gp.
    It is a stable, good firmware.
    The setup for working with ipkg-opt, is very difficult.
    After I play 2-3 day with DD-WRT, I go back to Oleg fw

    You can put back the stock asus fw or another one.
    Back from DD-WRT to another firmware:
    After you make the first login ( adding user and password via webgui ) to the DD-WRT , it is disabe the standard "recovery mode", no tftp by default !

    Computer setup:
    IP:192.168.1.2
    MASK:255.255.255.0
    Gateway:192.168.1.1
    DNS:192.168.1.1

    * Step 1: You must reset first to default settings ( in webgui or manual with reset button)
    and wait for boot....After that you get back tftp in "recover mode".
    * Step 2: Unplug the power cord from the router
    * Step 3: Wait 20 seconds
    * Step 4: Press and hold the reset button on the back of the router.
    * Step 5: While holding the reset button, plug the power cord into the router. Continue to hold the reset button until the power light starts flashing. Let go of the reset button
    * Step 6: Use tftp to transfer wl500g-clear-nvram.trx to the router.
    * Step 7: Tftp should report a successful file transfer in 7-15 seconds. Wait 2-3 minutes after that before unplugging the router
    * Step 8: Unplug the router, wait 20 seconds. Hold the reset button and plug the power cord into the router, continuing to hold the reset button until the power light flashes. Release the reset button.
    * Step 9: Use tftp to transfer wl500g-recover.trx to the router. Same method as above, just change the file name. Wait 2-3 minutes after tftp reports a successful file transfer before unplugging the router.
    * Step 10: Unplug the router, wait 20 seconds. Hold the reset button and plug the power cord into the router, continuing to hold the reset button until the power light flashes. Release the reset button.
    * Step 11: Use tftp to transfer the firmware what you want to the router (only TRX file !)
    * Step 12: Wait 3-4 or more minutes, if your firmware is big after tftp reports a successful file transfer before unplugging the router. Unplug the power cord from the router, wait 20 seconds, and plug the power cord back into the router.

    Subset...I also want to be the happy user of oleg's firmware, but...pppoe doesn't let me. :P

    I've remembered that in the update process i haven't used firmware restoration (it doesn't connect to my router), but the update process made from administration page was ok, no errors (if u don't count the fact that is not connecting to my isp :P).

    Forget the english, is not my native language also, but i hope that u understand what i'm trying to say.

    I've made it work. I don't realy know hat have i done.
    Maybe...i've installed from firmware restoration.
    ....enabled ping from wan (i don't remembered if i've done that in the first place)
    ....set the idle to disconnect to 0 (i've done that)

    Now i'm banging my head trying to make samba the way i like (private folder and so on), setup the ftp and see the torrents flowing.

    I am having the same problem, no PPPoE connect with Oleg Firmware 1.9.2.7-9 and 1.9.2.7-10. With Asus Firmware 1.9.7.7 no problem. I tried flashing with restoration tool, I flashed wl500g-clear-nvram.trx, nothing helped. I have always loaded factory defaults at the first boot with new firmware.     I am a Windows user and an absolute noob in Linux. I have a WL-HDD running with older Oleg firmware, but never tried to connect to the internet directly. Hopefully someone knows what has gone wrong and can help.

    I got it to work, but the same as posted before me, I dont know what made it work. Reconnect takes a long time (about 25 seconds) with this firmware compared to original Asus firmware.
