I went from DD-WRT to Tomato but it should work the same
What I did was as follows...
- Find and download "wl500g-clear-nvram.trx" & "wl500g-recover.trx"
- Change the IP of your PC 192.168.1.10 through network settings.
- Make sure your PC is the only one hardwired to the router.
- Reset router to default settings by holding the reset button for 30 seconds.
- Unplug the router, press the reset button. While holding the rest button plug the router back in holding the reset button for an additional 3 - 4 seconds.
- The you need to TFTP wl500g-clear-nvram.trx - wait about 5 minutes.
- Unplug the router and plug back in and let it cycle.

- Now you can TFTP another firmware.
I attached a bat file which makes uploading files a lot easier. All you have to do is open it in the same folder as the files you want to send to the router. Just remember to change file names using a text editor.
