    Unstable wireless connection

    Anyone facing unstable wireless connection?

    v2.0.0.1 firmware used from Asus.
Latest wireless driver used; Intel PRO Wireless 2100 3b Mini PCI adapter v1.2.4.41. This adapter is only capable of 11 Mbps.

    check the surrounding networks
make sure they are not on your channel
and for ultimate N speed you need the central channel, wich is always 11 apparantly, so that might mix up things

"Auto" channel is used for my WL-500W.

Disabled the Thinkvantage access connection v5.00 and so far it is working fine. Have not tested internet download when the connection break is obvious.

This evening, Intel 2100 driver will be deployed. Will post an update

Intel wireless driver is available @ http://support.intel.com/support/wir...S-010623.htm#b

    hm, sounds good
but I think the router doesn't scan for any surrounding networks, but just picks a channel, because that happens to me all the time.
channel selection is just weird I think
or do you use original fw?

Intel 2100 driver was upgraded from v1.2.4.41 to v1.2.5.37, 5 mins ago.

Now testing internet download ~50MB file ..... keeping my fingers crossed.

wpte, I am sticking with ASUS v2.0.01 firmware

No noticeable improvement by updating wireless adapter's driver. Wireless connection was randomly disconnecting.

Good news is that changing of channel does the work. Guess channel should not be left to "AUTO" mode unless the firmware is smart enough to auto detect the used channels in the area, and auto select a non conflicting one. Perhaps one of us in this forum might wanna suggest it to ASUS

hmm I dunno, this wireless seems undeveloped sometimes
lately I have this with a lot of things, things that should work better and more efficient, but whatev.
But there is no way I can change channel 11, it's just broadcasting, because it should be, unfortunately, also 2 of my neighbours do that
    I still get myself a nice 80m
it's just sometimes really laggy, even when I'm close
maybe I just live in a too dence wireless networking area

WPTE, change to 20 Mhz and you will be able to change the channel to 11

nah, it was something stored in the firmware, after some flashing and resetting it was gone and now I have some automatic channels
still the wireless chip is doing weird things... so I'm waiting for my replacement.

    btw...
the only difference between 20mhz and 40mhz is that 20 sends stronger signals, is slower and can handle more clients.
at least... that is what I read...
