tun.o missing from firmware

Hey all,
I am trying to install openVPN and am getting stuck on the tun driver. It doesn't seem to have been compiled as part of the kernel and trying to compile myself results on me getting stuck with an error on ./configure saying "cannot guess build type; you must specify one" which is a showstopper for me as well as I can't find any documentation on this condition.

I know some people have it, I found a thread for the wl-500 and a link to a cached copy of the driver but they are all dead now.
With all these sidehacking exploits that happened at defcon, I am interested in getting this running ASAP.

try this package http://www.reimann-trusheim.de/wl700...7-1_mipsel.ipk . It contains the tun.o kernelmodule for asus wl
700g. I compiled the moudule myself and i am using it for over a year now.
