    Underclocking / Saving power

    Hi,

I'm running a wl500gu from a battery, and I'd like to conserve power as much as possible.
Is it possible to reduce the cpu clock speed in order to minimize current consumption?
I tried: nvram set clkfreq 133; nvram commit
but after the reboot, cpuinfo still reports about 240bogomips... and the measured consumption is also the same...

    any ideas?
    thanks,

I think you should ask Oleg. 133 MHz might not enabled as an useable proc freqency.

how about lowering the signal of your wireless?

well... in order to see how much I could lower consumption the first thing I did was disable wireless... and I also tested various txpower values while measuring current input
I also removed alll peripherals and measured the current input...
then removed the all the leds...
consumption is now slightly above 1W... but I know it can use even less power...
I know of similar devices who use <0.5W...

the next step is to change (reduce) CPU clock... ideally in real time...
for that I need your help.

so, one again, Is it possible to lower the CPU clock speed?

    thanks,
