    error 10054: Transfer failed

    I try restore firmware (http://wl700g.homelinux.net/drupal/?q=node/54).

    - I have loaded successfully "WL700gE_1.0.4.2_flash.trx"
    - wait one minute after power off
    - keep pressed ezflash button put in the power
    - release ezflash button and start Asus Firmware Restoration ("WL700gE_1.0.4.2.nas ").

    After couple of seconds i get error:
    "Error 10054: Transfer failed".

    Heed help! What return to lifes my router?
    Necessary use black magic?

    There we go. I'm in the same hot water. I can't seem to be able to push any firmware onto it (nas file that is) but tftp works perfectly. I have read on the w500 forums that having multiple ethernet interfaces can interfere with this. Try disabling all other interfaces (assuming you have any others) and try that. it apparently worked for some guys. It didn't for me I'm sad to say .

    Unhappy Disaster!

    I'm in a desperate situation This tip seems to be my last hope. Could you clarify the following before I try it..

    BACKGROUND
    0 . Was running default asus firmware. Decided to upgrade to latest official asus firmware .
    1. The firmware restoration tool didn't work for me so i did a tftp and tried to upload the official asus firmware (*.nas). The tftp keeps failing after uploading most of the file.
    2. Now the ready light is just blinking everytime. I'm unable to reset it to the factory firmware default.
    3. My data on the HDD is not exactly backed up.

    QUESTION
    1. If I upload this .trx file via tftp and then try the .nas file via the firmware restoration tool: Will this fix all my problems ? Will it format the HDD ?

    Iam done with the official ASUS firmware. Once I'm back to normal wrt my data, I'm onto OpenWRT!

    Thnx
    -Brad

    Well you're doing this wrong. Basically tftp should be used for the flash portion of the nas file only. You should not use the 'nas' file with tftp. Do what's suggested here and with some luck, things should work.

    Victory!

    How can reflash if seen "Error 10054: Transfer failed":
    Warning! All data in HDD will be lose!!!

    - Unplug HDD from Asus and connect to unix-like PC (I`m use the "Frenzy" live CD);
    - login as root and say in command line:
    dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/ad1

    where "ad1" - hdd from Asus (in miscellaneouses OS this parameter can differ)

    - unplug HDD from unix-like PC and connect to Asus (I`m setup HDD jumper in "Master");

    - keep pressed ezflash button i plug in the power;
    - after waiting 5-6 seconds run in my noteboot "tftp -i 192.168.1.1 put WL700gE_1.0.4.2_flash.trx" (http://wl700g.homelinux.net/drupal/f....2_flash.trx);
    - wait a couple of seconds until the image is uploaded a message appears if it's succesful uploaded;
    - after uploading i wait 30 seconds and unplug power cord;
    - wait 10 seconds and plug in the power cord;
    - after i can see ping reply "TTL=64" run Asus Firmware Restoration and upload "WL700gE_kc_1078_02.nas" (http://www.wl500g.info/files/asus/cu..._1078_02.nas);
    - wait 2-3 min and got a working device.

    Best regards,

    Ok, that's your way.
    Maybe you could edit your recipe and tell that it will wipe out all the data.
    A very few stupid people don't have full backups...
