Question Unknown Host - very strange...

    Hello,

I have a really odd problem that I don't understand. I have the wl500g connected to a BT router via the wan port. It's served an ip / gateway / dns address from the BT router. My PC is connected to the Asus via wifi.

The PC is served an ip / gateway / dns address from the Asus.

If I try a ping from the PC, it will resolve the name to an IP address fine. If I try and ping from the asus (logged in via SSH), it can only resolve a few domain names, and thus the ping mostly fails. If I take the IP address resolved when pinging from the PC and use that IP address on the asus ping command, the ping is successful.

So it seems that my PC can resolve domain names, but the Asus itself can only resolve a small number which is really odd, since the PC is only connected to the Asus, and thus the PC must be resolving the dns through the Asus!

I'm running the latest firmware 1.9.2.7-8.

    Thanks for your help!!

What does your PC say about DNS server(s)?

(and what dns server is the asus using)
