WL-500W is nearly the same as...

I just want to tell you guys (and girls if any) that the WL-500W is about the same as the WL-500gP. Actually, the only difference is the wireless chip, so all tutorials in the wl-500gP forum are ALSO working on this device.
I had a WL-500gP, but it broke, and I save everything from it, and guess what, it worked too on the W

so for a start on the oleg firmware use (the best one around):

you need oleg firmware for the wl500w?

    So,

If i swapped the mini-pci wireless card in the 500gP for a 802.11n card, drill 2 holes and add 2 antennas (and flash 500w firmware)....That makes it a 500w???

Interesting, can somebody confirm this idea???

Does this firmware supports N? I'm currently using DD-WRT, it supports N but I would like to use the Download Master.

I cannot get the N working with a WL500W running this firmware and a Intel
4965AGN (santa rosa laptop with vista). 54Mbps is the max unfortunately...

well... you would need some more hacking and cracking I guess...
there should be various values blocking the WL500W firmware to be flashed...
but the hardware is well... almoast the same exept for the wifi card.

I tried to find those pages of the hardware comprare thingy... couldn't find it anymore. The tutorials from the gP (version1) should be workinf for the W too. however, some hardware mods may fail
