Hi Forum,

Mediatomb is part of Optware package feed that is not bounded to Oleg firmware. It can run on several firmwares. Even wl-700gE that is not supported by Oleg.
We had some problems with exception handling, but this were solved with toolchain upgrade. Now there are spotted some problems with database init, but I think thate mediatomb developers will promptly solve this.

Was macht ein toolchain upgrade?

Hi,
i'm trying to compile mediatomb 0.8.1 for ASUS WL-500gP wireless router running BusyBox v1.1.3, but with no result.
That's some questions:
======== CONFIGURATION SUMMARY =========
sqlite3 : yes
mysql : missing
javascript : missing
libmagic : missing
id3lib : missing
libextractor : disabled
libexif : yes
1. Are javascript, libmagic and id3lib are "must have", or it's optional libraries?
2. make command ends with the output:
../src/mxml/context.cc: In constructor 'mxml::Context::Context()':
../src/mxml/context.cc:34: internal compiler error: Segmentation fault
Please submit a full bug report,
with preprocessed source if appropriate.
See <URL:http://gcc.gnu.org/bugs.html> for instructions.
make[1]: *** [libmediatomb_a-context.o] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/mnt/temp/mediatomb/build'
How to troubleshoot this error?
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
first of all - please try the current SVN code, 0.8.1 is outdated!
We also provide a .bb (BitBake) file for crosscompilation using the OpenEmbedded environment.
libmagic and libjs are optional libraries, however both are strongly recommended.
Unfortunately I do not know much about the ASUS-WL500g, what kind of linux is it running?
Is it uClinux or the "normal" one? We never tried MediaTomb on uClinux, most of our tests were done on ARM and MIPS based systems with an MMU so it was not much different than trying it on a slow PC.
Let me know if you need more help, I'd be very interested in making this work.
Greetings,
Jin

OK.. there is some movement here
I asked OpenSlug and Optware guys for help and we now have packages for glibc based systems, not yet for the WL500g (it s uclibc based) but we are getting there.
Right now the only missing thing is id3lib, I will try to fix it for uclibc targets, then you will have a full-featured MediaTomb version on the WL500g.
Greetings,
Jin
