    repair of dead unit (WL550gE)

    hello guys.

I have played a little bit with nvram settings and now what i have is a completly dead unit.

    status:
after power on (without holding reset)
-air and pwr led are off
    -all other are still on

after power on (with holding reset)
    -it is the same s*it

and nothing is blinking, no asus utility is doing anything.
    short words: nothing works.

but i still believe that it will work some time because it has to be a software problem. hardware is absolutely fine, nothing is damaged.

please help me with your hints - i have already some kind of a closer relationship with my router and i dont want to lose it ;-)

    hi oleg. thanks for reply.

already tried with power supply of different asus router.
no success. i think that it is not a problem of power supply.

    Same Problem

Hi, I flashed my router and now have the same fault. I cannot repair it. I did get a backup of the CFE before I killed it so maybe I can try to recover using a JTAG cable.

Duri, have you tried using JTAG. I am thinking using this process (JTAG Section)
    http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php...om_a_Bad_Flash
I have tried everything else without success.

My LEDs are identical to yours!

If you manage to recover let me know how you did it.

jtag cable / WL-550gE jtag pinout

    hello everyone again,

I'd like to recover my 550gE with a JTAG cable. to be honest, I have already decided to do so. but, I don't know how to solder jtag cable for 550gE. I have found it for 500gx (which is probably the closest one) but it is too different to be usable with 550gE.

Can anyone have the right jtag pinout for 550gE ?

Unhappy 550gE bricked power on, lan on connect, stp on

I have a 550gE, played with firmwares, now doesn' respond to anything.
It has openwrt, as I remember.
Don't know the las ip i put on him, asus recovery tool does not find it in recovery mode, and it does enter recovery, power blinking.
In normal mode, it starts, but does not pass anything trough it.
It does not respond to any ping on the 192.168.1.x-192.168.27.x wich i must hav put some time on it, and pwr and air leds are on. I cant' see it in the wireless with a scanner, and it does not respond to arp or ping requests either.
The lan leds are flashing when I connect a cable to a port. ( the led for respective port. )
I did a capture with wireshark , and I get this:

    Code:
No. Time Source Destination Protocol Info

In essence, it is running STP and searching/establishing default root.

When anybody has any idea what's happening, how can I fix it..... many, many thanks in advance.
( ps. tried already with recovery, 30 sec, and so..... )
