HP laserjet 1018 (1020) on WL500GP - Proper HOWTO needed

    Hi,

sorry for this, but other treads are REALLY misleading.
    I found these

    http://foo2zjs.rkkda.com/

but after many hours of trying i didnt manage to make it work.
I uploaded http://oleg.wl500g.info/hplj/ driver. And nothing...

After i pluged it back to xp it didnt work. That scared the hell out of me. But after switching it off it worked fine.

Some my question is - did it someone make it work and can you please send howto...

    Cheers

I have written the manual, but in Russian, it`s really work. Excuse, I have no time to write the text in English, you can use a translator.

    HP Laserjet 1018 HOWTO

    The following HOWTO should work.
Found most of it via google.

    1. Install Oleg's Firmware (Don't ask me how), you need some space
    2. Go to the Web Interface click "System Setup" -> "Services" and activate "Enable device discovery", "Enable LPR Printing" and "Enable RAW Printing"
    3. Download the file sihp1018.dl.txt attached to this posting, rename it to sihp1018.dl and put it in /opt/lib/hotplug/. This is the Firmware of the printer (1018).
    4. Download the file hotplug.txt attached to this posting, rename it to hotplug and copy it to /opt/sbin/hotplug. Make sure it's executable by admin
    5. ipkg install hotplug
    6. echo /opt/sbin/hotplug > /proc/sys/kernel/hotplug
    7. Restart your printer (Should make some reset-sound twice)
    8. In Windows create a new printer (use the wizard) and make it use "Local Port" and then "Standard TCP/IP" with IP of your ASUS and Port 9100. Set "Protocol" to "Raw". Install the printer driver. I'm not sure about the labels. I don't use English as interface language in windows.
    9. Print Test Page
