    Firmware 1.8.x.x problem

    When using 1.8.x.x firmware I cant acces some web pages like local comp. seller and Suprnova (apps/linux is legal so dont judge) which stops at "Transferring data from test.2004cms.com..." Reverting to older firmware solves the problem. Anyone knows where the problem is?
    Thx bop

    I just updated 1.8 over 1.8, hardware reset, factory defaults and then turning off. It WORKS. Why today after weeks of trying I dont know. Same 1.8 over? Weird.

    try to ping the page, see if it resolves an IP and does ping it or not..
    compare with results with your dialup connection

    also give us more details please about your internet connection, ADSL can have some issues because of weird values used at ISP.

    as suggested by some other user (but he removed it ) so i'll place it back
    Although it may seem far fetched the IP assigned to you by your provider may be (in a range) that is blacklisted.

    Pings and resvolves IP.
    ADSL PPPoE
    Problems with many pages, not only suprnova (e.g. www.gericom.at and many others) and all 1.8 firmwares.
    I curently use 1.8.1.7-2a, factory defaults except virtual server (ports for azzureus).
    When I revert to 1.7 its all OK. Ive tried it several times and the result is allways <1.8 OK, any 1.8 NOT OK with one shortlived exception.
    Am I the only one with this problem? I hate that.

    Sounds like the infamous MTU problem to me. Check if your MTU is set to 1492 or less. There is an option somewhere in the GUI.

    MTU was 1492. I changed it to 1450. Now everything is working.
    I still get
    <local2.warn pppd[84]: Couldn't increase MTU to 1500>
    <local2.err pppd[84]: Couldn't increase MRU to 1500>
    while max I can set in GUI is 1492. Should it be 1500?
    Thx bop

    This message is normal, for DSL connections. Since you have capped your
    MTU to 1450, it is no wonder that the MTU can not be set to 1500

    That is because DSL just doesn't work with an MTU of 1500.
    Well, it works but you are getting problems with some websites.
    Google for DSL and MTU for more information.

    Correct, you can safely ignore it. You'll find this message on many DSL connected Linux machines.
