    Upgrade hard drive WL-700gE

Before I attempt this myself, I had been looking here for instructions on replacing the HDD, but had no luck so far.

I am running standard supported firmware (no mods or hacks) and just want to put a 300Gb HDD where the 160 sits now.

Is there a step by step for doing this, or do I just need to stick it in and follow the prompts?

    No takers, huh?

Oh well, I changed my mind in the meantime and will stick to the 160 for now.

I did find this http://wl500g.info/archive/index.php/t-8442.html thread which also points back to a thread from these forums.

I got as far as making the 300Gb disk a mirror of the 160, but it was not clear to me if I could have then just loaded the copy and booted from it alone, nor was I sure about using the rest of the disk not used in the mirroring.

    Another time perhaps.

Upgrading the HDD is easy. Just put it in and reflash the firmware. You have to reflash because only the kernel is in the internal flash. All of the applications live on the HDD.

Talking Why not copy your disk?

Maybe you can just copy the small disk onto the big one. See http://wl500g.info/showthread.php?t=10198
