Hello ppl. I bricked my asus wl-500g too. Only sometimes it entered recovery mode. And any firmware i gave it didn't work. However, there was one firmware that worked. And that's the one with...
well, the two others aren't provided with the default kernel sources? (I'm assuming you are talking about parport.o and ppdev.o) Check out OpenWRT's kernel. I would use that instead, but something's...
Well, there is a module for the parallel port, module which works on OpenWrt, so i guess it should worl here too. Here it is: http://pwp.netcabo.pt/0246517002/parport_splink.c However, I don't think...
Thank you, Oleg. I tried that but same thing...when i try to set something on the LPT with lpif it gives me an Segmentation fault then a reboot. I'm very intrigued by this because i have here two...
Hello there. I tried to use ppdev.o from http://www.sephail.net/projects/openwrt/ with this firmware but no luck. The thing just freezes when i run lpif -d . I believe the problem is the kernel's...
check this out for the parallel port of asus wl-500g http://www.sephail.net/projects/openwrt/
look here on how to control the parallel port of that thing. The only problem is that it isn't working with oleg's firmware (not sure which one) because you can't remove the lp.o module without...

i'm interested in such tools too if available...i need to extract the ov51x and videodev modules from Oleg's firmware
Thank you
Apparently Zolf created a module that does just that...but I think he is no longer intrested in this.
I like linksys. Why? Because there are a lot of firmwares to choose from and in my case works better than the asus. Only if it had usb...
If you need usb...asus....
i can do that too :)
But there is only one power led, not 8, and it doesn't have a nice socket :)
I'll try to use the functions from paraport_splink.c file, but so far ... segmentation fault.
I think you should consider purchasing a usb hub. It comes handy sometimes :)
Any idea? Anyone?
Well, considering I have a dualphone (www.dualphone.net), a wl500g and a computer running 24h a day for that, that thing would be more than welcome :)
can you post a complete example (.c) which blinks the data lines with a 1 sec interval? And which command should i use to compile it?
That would be more than helpful :)
ps: with this wl500g i...

I looked at parport_splink.c file and i extracted from there the things i thought are used for writing to the port. However, that's without mmap and things like that. But...
lost myself there :( :confused:
could you post the sourcecode and the module here? And a little example on how to use it?
I think it's exactly the thing i need
Thank you in advance
please give me an example.
this is where i got:

#include <linux/config.h>
#include <linux/module.h>
#include <linux/init.h>
#include <linux/ioport.h>
#include <linux/kernel.h>
#include <linux/slab.h>
Yes, that would be more than helpful. I would like to see the source also.
My idea about that is something like this
./lptioctl (portnumber) send (number)
./lptioctl (portnumber) read
=> returns...
I am looking for this for about two weeks with no answer (how to control the LPT of that f***ing thing).
No answers yet.
Here i am at a dead end. I don't have any simple example on how i can control the parallel port of that thing.
Anyone has a simple working example, please?
Thank you
